What's the point of casting a vertical jigging spoon? Specifically in a bass fishing setting.

These lures are used as much for casting and trolling as they are for jigging, very versatile.  The comment was in response to casting distance.  The rod and the lure type is going to determine the distance and nothing casts as far as these, it isn't much different than a hopkins and they are used in freshwater.
