Sonar Stop Function

Question here.  If you are running typical 83/200 kHz at front and bow do you need to stop sonar at stern when putting down the TM and using the one up front?  Same frequencies however not sure if there would be any interference- I assume not. 

so my real question would be when running 455/800 at the front should you turn off 83/200 at the bow or would you only want to turn it off if you are running the 455/800 and 83/200?

 

someone help me here if you can- wondering if I have been causing myself a bigger headache than I need.

Those numbers are kHz numbers.  You get interference when you use 2 units on the same frequency and the water depth is great enough for the signals to overlap.  The only time I have interference is with the 83/200 when both are turned on and the water is deeper than 20'.

I'd say just give it a shot and if you have interference then find out how to fix it.

If you ;can't turn off the 83/200, then you will get cross-talk.

 

Another option is try operating 83 kHz on one and 200 kHz on the other for 2D sonar.

 

WIth Hummibird units, both of those frequencies broadcast all the time no matter what the frequency setting is.

interesting- so for all these years I have been reading things a bit incorrectly. 

scary... 

It seems most do not stop one to use the other and am also curious just how much interference I have been getting.  Looking forward to comparing this year.
