Super User buzzed bait Posted March 17, 2014 Super User Posted March 17, 2014 I'm looking to buy a new reel for swimbaits and would rather go with the low profile over the round reel. That said, I'm looking for opinions on 2 models. Abu Garcia Revo Toro or the Shimano Curado 300 series? They're fairly similar in prices so for me it boils down to performance. This would be for baits in the 1-5 oz range mostly thrown on 20lb line. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted March 17, 2014 Super User Posted March 17, 2014 I use a Curado 300 DSV. It's a tank and has a huge spool for maximum line capacity. I use it for musky fishing and swimbaiting. I'm a shimano guy, so my vote would sway that way. I have no experience with a Toro so I can't comment there. Either one will probably suit your needs just fine. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 17, 2014 Super User Posted March 17, 2014 Between those two, the Curado. It's probably the tops as far as low pro SB reels are concerned. The Lexa is also a quality reel in the 300 size. Quote

Super User Raul Posted March 17, 2014 Super User Posted March 17, 2014 From those two the Curado in an eyeblink. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted March 17, 2014 Author Super User Posted March 17, 2014 ok, looks like the curado is a good bet.... I'm seeing them on the auction site around $200 thinking of just pulling the trigger on one.... would that pair nicely with a 7'6" MH Okuma Guide Select? Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 17, 2014 Super User Posted March 17, 2014 Isn´t MH a little bit too lite for them up to 5 oz swimbaits you wanna throw ? Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted March 17, 2014 Super User Posted March 17, 2014 The 7'6 mh okuma gs has a rating of 1/2-5oz. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 17, 2014 Super User Posted March 17, 2014 If you are going to throw 1-5, get the 7'6" H. The MH ratings (and okuma ratings in general) are over estimated. 1 Quote
