Banned-99884 Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Best jig rod specs? Mostly 1/2 oz jigs - 7' MH XF - 7' H F - 7' H MOD FAST Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted March 18, 2014 Global Moderator Posted March 18, 2014 7' to 7' 6" MH/F or H/F Depending on the specific cover you're fishing, and depending on the specific action of the specific rod you're useing. Fun isn't it! Mike 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 It depend on the jig and cover and as always personal preference. Typical all around jig fishing in mod cover with 1/2oz> a fast action is good. 1oz> in heavy cover/slop an XH/Mod fast gets a good hookset and the fish moving at the same time. Finesse jigs and deep water I think a faster tip gets a set on light bites. There is also no standard for any of the terms used so Mod-Fast / F / XF are all subjective. Quote
Fish Murderer 71 Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 1/2 oz, so your searching deep waters with a jig? 7' MH/F - I have a SKEET REESE Big worm/football jig rod for this tactic. I have another 7' rod for my other jigs Its a heavy/fast, I throw just about anything with it, but I bought it with flippin n pitchin in mind- turned out to be to short for my liking... Quote
