Super User ChrisD46 Posted March 17, 2014 Super User Posted March 17, 2014 Looking for updated information on what non - braid line you are OR will use this season for flippin / pitching applications for moderate to medium cover using beaver , craw soft plastics or brush / arky jig & trailer combo in clear to stained water ? ... I'm currently trying to decide between P-Line CXX X-tra Strong in 15lb ~ 20lb or Seaguar Invizx in 20lb ~ 25lb as a non - braid flippin / pitching go to line ... Your thoughts ? Quote
TorqueConverter Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I like a #17 Fluorocarbon with a #12, #14 or better mono equivalent diameter. I'm torn between Berkley 100% and BPS XPS Fluro. Sunline Sniper seems great but I just bought some this year to try out. I've heard that a lot of the Japanese fluros are rated at break strength as opposed to significantly under per American market lines, meaning that a #20+ Japanese line might be more in line with a #17 north American market product. Super User F14A-B Posted March 17, 2014 Super User Posted March 17, 2014 Yo-Zuri Hybrd 20# then cxx-strong 20 or 25 While I simply don't rely on florocarbon lines seaguar makes a good one.. Tryed red label didn't care for it. However, it's ok in soft cover situations Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 25lb AbrazX is perfect for any clear water flipping and pitching Quote
Grantman83 Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 16lb sunline sniper for light applications or clear water. 25ln shooter for the heaviest stuff Quote
frogflogger Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 sufix tritanium - learned about it from guys in sofla who fished for snook around bridges - this stuff is tough and extemely abrasion resistant and cheap for a quality mono Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 17, 2014 Global Moderator Posted March 17, 2014 20lb Sunline Super Fluorocarbon for most of my flipping. I avoid braid almost to a fault when flipping, just don't like fishing the stuff when I'm flipping. Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Gonna try 15# Cabelas X50 by Seaguar for light cover flipping this year Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted March 17, 2014 Super User Posted March 17, 2014 20# tatsu-jigs 15# tatsu-texas rigs 16# sniper-swim jigs Pitch and flip all 3 of these on a daily basis. I avoid braid like the plague for anything non slop. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted March 17, 2014 Super User Posted March 17, 2014 20# Seaguar AbrazX is what I used last season. Loved it! Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted March 17, 2014 Author Super User Posted March 17, 2014 I appreciate the replies !! Glad to see there are those of you who enjoy fluorocarbon in that 15lb to 25lb range for flippin / pitching . Yes , I only have sporadic weed lines , grass , occasional brush and chunk rock to contend with in the reservoir lakes I fish . Quote
War Eagle 44 Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 20-25# CXX or 20# P-Line 100% fluorocarbon. 20# Halo would also work just fine. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted March 17, 2014 Global Moderator Posted March 17, 2014 I use 20# Invisex on my jig rod in all types of cover, and 15# for light cover pitching plastics. Mike Quote
papajoe222 Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Braid gets the nod most of the time, but I also use 17lb. Original Stren. It's easier for me to see and has excellent abrasion resistance. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted March 18, 2014 Super User Posted March 18, 2014 Suffix Elite hi vis yellow mono, but a fluoro leader. In real thick stuff 20 pound P - Line 100% fluoro. Quote
Toeshots Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 15-20LB Tatsu. Super strong, super sensitive. Awesome stuff. Quote
FlipnLimits Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 17-25lb Big Game or XT. That's as big as is needed around here. Our trophy bass are 5-6lbs. FL Quote
