Ok.Ā Ā Ā  I can only guess that there's some very competitive Occoquan tournament(s) and you're worried about spies and competition?Ā Ā  I've never fished a tournament, so I wasn't aware of the sensitivity.Ā

Ā

I spent most of Saturday on the water.Ā  Trolled south out of Fountainhead.Ā  Very slow morning.Ā  I made it a point to try to target larger fish, seems I've gotten more comfortable with the water there and felt I could catch up to 2# pretty regularly.Ā  But, the bite was very slow, I got frustrated and I slowly scaled down until I got to my confidence zone and started catching 1 to 2.5's the rest of the day.Ā  Senkos and flukes pitched into the shore made for a fun day of small bass.Ā  I have a lot to learn about that rez, however, and I am confident that once I feel the confidence (and familiarity) to target off-shore lmb's, I'll like it a lot more.

Thats my mistake man. I want to keep it secret because its something that I havent seen anyone else use it on the rez. I know it seems stupid but i dont want everyone to know.

The offshore bite is just about to start happening! And yes, it can be very rewarding!!

I fished Saturday and Sunday. Ā Caught on spinnerbaits, senkos, and creatures in grass. Ā Wasn't able to hookup on anything big. Ā Also tried crankin some offshore structure and couldn't get hit. Ā It was slow in the morning for me as well. Bite seems to turn on around 2pm. Ā Think i'm gonna head further south from FH this weekend.

Boaters beware tournament Sunday out of fountainhead. Wish me luck ladies and gents.

Went out with a buddy Sunday and we killed it dragging 10' worms on a carolina rig across the points offshore a bit, right over the drop and we caught fish almost every time...

Nice! I was out Saturday and caught a few making their way deeper, only one good fish and lots of small fish. Hit a big log floating just at the surface and busted a bracket on my outboard, not happy. Just about threw me out of the boat! Be careful out there and make sure you have your kill switch hooked up!!

Great advice ! Glad to hear it wasn't any worse than that !

Went out saturday morning and water visability was a solid zero fromthe recent rain. Fish were still active chasing bait. Caught fish mostly in 2-2.5lb range and hooked up on this hawg when i went into a cove. Saw a nice baitball with feeding fish on sonar and pitched to the back of the boat. Didn't realize how big until it jumped. First nice fish this year (5lb 4oz). If you haven't gone out yet. Now is the time. Caught fish on rod except topwater. Swallowing cranks!

yea we caught a few in the 2lb range throwing square bills shallow around hard cover (both on the bluffier side by teh old damĀ and the flatter side above fountainhead).Ā  One close to 3 but that was really it.Ā  Don't have depthfinder so really had to stick to shallow cover.Ā  but they were defintely active saturday even in the chocolate mik.Ā  that's a good looking 5+ Eddie.

Couldnt get anything going over the weekend. Just a few dinks. I went out for a few hours before work and hit it hard. I had a limit for 15+ in under an hour. All the fish seemed be made from a mold or I kept catching the same fish haha.

I did notice a couple guys down by LRP that seemed to be taping a video. Gotta keep an eye out on youtube for it.Ā

What's working fellas?Ā Ā

Ā

Spent much of last Sunday on the rez -- very good numbers in the morning, though nothing bigger than 3 1/2.Ā  Things shut down around 11 and never picked up again before I came off around 4.Ā  Beating the banks with flukes and worms produced a lot of fish, but nothing to write home about.Ā  I'm marking a LOT of the Occoquan Summer Suspenders between 16 and 22 feet, but they aren't interested in anything I put in front of them.Ā  Headed out again this weekend and looking for suggestions.

Fish points in the 16-22' range! Get off the banks if you want to learn the res. the banks are fun and you will catch fish but never find schools of big fish playing along the banks in the summer!!

I was about to ask the same thing. Im heading out of Lake Ridge tomorrow and havent been out in a while.

I looked at Fountainhead marina this afternoon and it didn't look too bad. A friend of mine was out and said he was catching small fish in a Carolina rig on points. If I was out today with the high water, I would have been looking at grass along steeper banks with beaver style baits. The water will be falling back to normal pool so I would hope for some wind and fish areas getting the most of it. Points, I would try c-rig and shakey, bluffer areas I would try spinnerbaits and square bill. Good luck guys and let us know how you do!
