Well spring is around the corner. We all know what that means. Time to hit the lakes and get our fish on.

I'm wanting to redo my tackle box. I want to just get the basics. It not a big box. So just getting the basics should do me just fine for me.

I like some advice what should I pick up tackle wise. Kind of lures and color.

The waters I fish in ranges from muddy to clear and I fish from shallow to a max dept of 12 feet.

I travel pretty light but that is mostly because I fish from a kayak. I keep swimjigs and typically tip them a Berkley Chigger Craws or Grub, Strike King Sexy Swimmer, Spro BBZ1 , Watermelon Candy PowerWorms and Booyah Buzzbaits.. I also bring along a few red eye shads.

I plan on getting a Seaeagle 330 for those tough to get to places.

If I had it all to do over from scratch, I would buy

two or three top of the line lures for every application

I planned to fish.

Topwater: Megabass PopMax, LC Sammy, Zara Spook

Jekbait: LC Pointer, Rapala X-Rap, McStick, Sebile Koolie & Megabass Ito

Shallow crankbait: LC (RC) 1.5, 2.5, Norman Fat Boy;

Bandit 100 & 200; Bagley BII and Bomber Square A

Lipless: XCalibur Xr50 (blue/chrome), Red Eye Shad and River2Sea

Deeper: DT10, Fat Free Shad, DD22

Plastics: Rage Tail, MegaStrike, Mizmo, Roboworm, NetBaits & GYCB

Jigs: MegaStrike EVO II, NorthStar Pro Series & GMAN

Spinnerbaits: MegaStrike StrikeBack, Ledgebuster

Swarming Hornet/ LFT Live Magic Shad

Buzzbaits: MegaStrike Cavitron

Frog: River2Sea

Hooks: Gamakatsu, VMC, Owner, XPoint, Moaner (Mustad)

Line: Yo-Zuri Hybrid

My tendency is to buy what works, always looking to save a buck. More expensive is not always better. With that said I agree with RW that buying good baits is usually a good value. I swore I would never use LC baits, but once used you will see there is a difference. I would rather have a couple of Pointers than a box full of cheaper jerkbaits. RWs list also gives a selection that covers the entire water column. I would add Booyah jigs, Zoom plastics, PLine CXX, and a few knock-offs to my list :;) but his list would be a great start IMO.
