This fast.

In March of 2010 I stocked this bass (or it's parents) in a private 2.5 acre lake that I built in 2009.  She was post spawn and still over 5 lbs.

I caught her this morning on a bitters vibe in about 4' of water.

I've heard about bass that grew several pounds between the time they were released and the time it took to tell the story about catching them.

Awesome!  I want to eventually grow some bass in my private lake behind my house.  Now I just have to buy the land, build the lake, and the house.......lol

In November of 2009 we put in minnows and blue gills that we netted from another pond on the property. In January of 2010 we put in 750 blue gill fingerlings we got from FWC and in March we added the bass fingerlings.  Tilapia and catfish moved in naturally.  These fish are fed several times a week (no automatic feeder).  We netted about 75 lbs of tilapia out this summer with many of those being in the 3-4 lb range.  The two little boys who live on property regularly catch 1.5 lb blue gill on crickets and worms.

That's some nice growth. I sort of manage a one acre pond in my town that has bass and bluegill. The bluegill and some of the bass are pellet trained and quite a few of the bluegill are a little over a pound. I caught the same bass last april and caught it again in October and it was about a pound and a half heavier. These are northern strain though.
