Power Pole Anchor

Does anyone besides the pros use these things? I don't know anyone who does. That whole set-up looks kinda iffy and they are not cheap at two grand a pop.It looks like an upside down power antenna on steriods. Whats your take on them?

I have one and will not ever have a boat without one.  They are not "iffy".  I have the 8' pro model and it will hold my 21' Triton in any conditions I have ever fished in.

I have two and absolutely love them!  They're one of those things that you think you don't need; then you when you get them, you think, "Why didn't I get them sooner?" and could not imagine being without them.

I have 2 also. They are a lot more rigid than you think. They are expensive but well worth it IMO.

I don't have them, but there's some guys in our bass club that do and they absolutely love them. At the moment I don't have the financial means to buy them, but if i did there's no doubt I'd have them because I can see the benefits of them!

I have a Talon and wished I had got one years ago

I have two 8' blades and they are the bee's knees, I wouldn't own a bass boat without having a pair of shallow water anchors. Power poles or talons, they both work great.

With all the wind and shallow lakes we have around here I'd love to own one. I've seen some cheap, homemade options that are probably going to be what I end up with since I just have a plain tin boat anyways.

My cousin has one on his 14ft jon boat. It works great, when its deployed its just like walking on your kitchen floor. Very sturdy, and it looks cool on there too.

So how nicely do they play with back deck fishermen? Seems like they'd greatly impede his casting ability when in the upright position.

When the Power Pole was first introduced, I knew that eventually I had to get one.

But I dragged my feet because I wasn't happy with the price nor the cricket-leg appearance.

Then Minn Kota launched the Talon, a vertical pile-driver, and I promptly jumped on the bandwagon.

 

In water up to 8 ft deep I deploy the Minn Kota Talon, and in water greater than 8 ft deep I deploy the Minn Kota Spot Lock,
which is a GPS feature on their electric motor. I was thinking about getting two Talons to fix the location of the boat,
but I really don't want more stern clutter. Instead, I position the boat by putting the transducer on my spot

with the bow pointed downwind, so in effect the Talon serves as a flagstaff.

I have a Talon mounted on the port side. The top is about 8" higher than the top of the motor. The co-angler will hit the motor cowl before the Talon.

You might to check out the Minn Kota Talon's as they have one that goes to 12'.

not really....... I spot lock and fish of the back deck regularly and I don't mind.  

 

1. many times I fish two on the front deck

2. open water they will not matter as you are making overhead cast....... or if flipping you are going 90 degree to the boat cast

3. if they do bother you can lower out of the way I suppose

One Blade on my 21' rig.  May add a second but love the look of just one.  My partner doesn't have issues casting and sometimes he just eases it down one foot if he wants to side cast.  Oh yeah.....I love having it one the boat!
