Im debating on a Metanium or Chronarch CI4+.  Is the extra money worth it to go up to the Metanium?

no... at least not for me, i am not sure i would even make the jump anymore from the curado i to the ci4+...

If it's worth it to you....ABSOLUTELY! And you probably already know the answer to that.

Well as the first two responses show its really a personal question.  I'd try to handle both, and then ask yourself "am I going to want the Metanium 2 days after I buy the ci4?"

A example I found myself with, tatula or tatula type r.  I thought I'd regret not spending the extra $ so I went type R.  Your experience might differ.  But I knew with my twisted brain I'd be up at night going "What if....."

I will say with a lot of fishing gear, you hit the point of diminishing return. I'm pretty sure thats what mjseverson24 's talking about.

Why not just go for the highest quality instead of questioning whether you made the right choice. I don't mind spending extra on gear and I always end up going alittle higher because I know if I start low, I will end up selling it to get the higher end stuff

I have the same type of brain.  Sadly nobody seems to have the Metanium in stock to touch it.

If an individual has the means and good fortune to afford high caliber equipment, I say why not. Those Metaniums look really nice. I saw one at BPS today. $499 price tag not my cup of tea right now. But those new Curado I's on the other hand.....

I can get it but,  I can get more if I go Chronarch,  nicer rod etc...  So Im torn.  Im not a professional bass fisherman LOL. But I also know how my brain is wired. I dont know if there is enough of a difference between the chronarch and the metanium

If a new rod is in the picture, I would get the Chronarch ci4. I have two of them, and I will be using them for the first time tomorrow. Can't wait.

I own several Metaniums from previous generations, in some aspects they are better than Chronarchs and in others Chronarchs are superior to their Japanese counterpart, in this particular case I would rather shell out the extra cash for the Metanium, I don´t own a Ci4, I´ve used a friend´s one and I´m not quite convinced, I´m not against composite sideplates, I´m not the greatest fan of composite frame.

You can get the metaniums for $300 on rakuten.

LOL too late now. I bought the chronarch,  I like it,  nice, light, solid and smooth

I have both and may not be too far from you. Where in NJ are you located?

Good choice CYP. You got a a great reel, and maximized your purchase with a nice rod to compliment the reel.

You picked up the exact combo I have. Have only had it for a little while, but absolutely love it so far. Been chucking jerkbaits into some good wind with no problems at all. Casts like a dream!
