When is the ideal conditions for this color? I know of plenty guys who use this color year around and swear by it but i've never gave it enough time to develop confidence in it. It seems to me it would be a good color for punching when your looking for that quick reaction strike.

Some food for thought, my friend Mois és swears for watermelon, in practical terms, watermelon pepper it 's the color he fishes the most of the time in most circumstances and conditions, if it 's not watermelon pepper then it 's watermelon plus something else ( red, green, gold, etc metalflake ), I like to fish with a multitude of colors some of my favorites are tequila shad, red shad, black shad, culprit 's cotton candy ( not the common cotton candy, it has to be culprit 's cotton candy ) blue saphire, red ruby, midnight chartreuse, those are some of my favorites, so you have two persons fishing completely different colors in the same places and catching pretty much the same amount of fish. To answer your question, when it 's the best time to fish with blue saphire ? ---> whenever you want. I personally like to fish with heavy metal flaked baits in poor visibilty water.

Low visibility.

Which is usually anytime your punching being its nice and dark under those mats and pads. I usually use Watermelom/Green pumpkin variations but im thinking the Blue Sapphire would maybe stand out a little better in the low light grassy conditions. When punching you looking for that quick reaction to that big weight and bait falling down and it seems to me the quicker they can locate the bait the better. I read somewhere that bobby Lane uses only unpainted Tungsten for punching for this same reason.

The Zoom Big Salty Chunk and Super Chunk in Sapphire Blue and Flippin' Blue are the most productive jig trailers used in Soluth Louisiana. Most use the Sapphire Blue but my favorite is Flippin' Blue.

They are most effective in stained (6-8") or muddy water which is most of the areas I fish - Atchafalaya Basin and the freshwater marshes between Morgan City and Houma, LA.

They have produced for me in low light conditions and bright sunny days.

It's a really good color for night fishing and stained water. It has it's moments in clear water too though. It's one of my favorite colors in Strike Kings Flippin tube .
