How Should I Be Fishing In Golf Ponds?

This week, I have the opportunity to do some fishing at Pawlies plantation golf resort, and I am from new jersey so I am not sure how I should approach it.

I was going to hit it with jerkbaits and slow worked texas rig worm in the morning

 

and then a black spinner and black worm at night. and also mix it up between my baits


Any suggestions?

I usually fish them after dark with a small penlight maybe. Helps to be dressed in all black wearing a ski mask.

golf courses really need no plan of action. if it has a hook in it throw it. But first make sure you have permission.

I would start with frogs and spinnerbaits then use flukes, senkos, vibe worms and maybe toss a creature to culvert pipes or and cover to be seen after that.

Texas rig any plastic. My brother and I caught a total of 13 today fishing a golf course pond. I used a texas rigged zoom lizard and he used swimbait and a jerkbait.

I run a golf course and fish mine regularly:

 

1. make sure you have permission

2. fish anything you want, golf course fish in general do not see lures so it is a blank canvas. Throw anything you want

3. don't leave trash, line, bait/tackle on the ground....... leave it cleaner than you found it

I do a lot of golf pond fishing.  Once the water hits the mid 50's and up, all I throw is a senko style bait and a buzzing frog.  Specifically a 5" GYCB Senko in either a watermelon or smoke color either wacky rigged or texas rigged on a 2/0 wide gap hook.  Use 6-8lb line.  You will get way more bites compared to throwing heavier line.  For the froggy, I use a Black or White Zoom Horny Toad and put it on a 5/0 EWG superline hook and braided line 40#'s and up.  Those two baits will destroy golf ponds. 

 

Btw, I'm not sure what kind of jerkbait you were talking about in your OP, but I'd refrain from throwing a hard jerkbait as golf ponds are usually covered in that slimy moss crap.  You throw something with treble hooks and you're in trouble.  If you want to throw a jerkbait, throw a soft plastic one, texas rigged, and with the hook point texposed.

 

Enjoy the pigs you're gonna catch.  Golf course ponds are LOADED with big bass.

Yeah I was gonna use a watermelon 5" yamamoto senko texas rig and maybe even wacky rigged on a off shank hook, my line is I think 10+ test, and do you really think the frog will work well in the spring? Im will to give anything a try.

Key thing to remember about golf course fishing, doesn't matter what lure you throw, is to stay out of the golfers way! That's the key to not gettin kicked out by either security or worse case scenario the police because sometimes there is that one golfer that will try to ruin your day.

Thats true, and in their defense that is what the golf course is for, but Ill try my best to just be as invisible as possible, untill I catch a monster then I might make alittle noise

oh I almost forget...... catch n release 100% of what you catch.

 

nothing makes the golf course superintendent madder than seeing pictures on Faceboook, instagram ect of fillet knifes or a 7#er laying in the back of a truck.

If you do things like that, expect your privliges to be revoked in not a nice way.

Yea when I fish courses I tend to stay out of their way like you said that's there right an a most of them pay to golf so I always respect them. Out of all the times I have fished I only had a problem with one golfer who took exception to me fishing. Funny thing is I wasn't even near him and he went out of his way to come over to me and tell me how he felt lol. I laughed at him and said I am sorry you are having a bad golfing day I am having a bad fishing day so far if that makes you feel any better lol. Besides that one old guy nearly all the time I get a wave or a nod and a bunch of guys ask me if I am having luck, what I am using, etc. Most know that you are just enjoying your hobby/sport just like they are (surprisingly a lot of golfers are fishermen too go figure lol)

Watch out for golf balls. I know some guys who take pride in hitting at people.
