hike4steel Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Upgraded my electronics to an HDS-7 and am wondering if the trolling motor is the best place for a portable mounting position of the side scan transducer. I fish from a small boat and the units need to be removable at the end of the day. How does the movement of the motor head effect the operation of the unit? I will mount the unit on a portable transducer/LCR mount http://www.basspro.com/Sully-Transducer-LCR-Mount/product/10200397/ with the 83/200 transducer. I would like to keep them both together on the portable mount for ease of safe transport and storage just not sure of fabrication to mount due to the size of the lss-2 transducer. Thoughts? This bracket was sturdy with the smaller unit. I generally mount the bracket on the starboard gunnel about the center of the boat. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 13, 2014 Super User Posted March 13, 2014 That is a good portable mount. Just attach the 2D transducer to one side and the LSS transducer to the other side. Your issue will be if the mount arm is long enough to have the LSS transducer below the hull bottom so it can "see" left and right. Quote
