Anyone have the new 6'8 m cumara casting rod. Model is cuc68 ma. Just got e- mail from Shimano that they are sending me that rod as a replacement for my broken gen 1 6'3 m mf. Two week turn around by the way and I bought the gen1 on clearance at TW for like $90 :). All in all, I win

wow that is nice, I have been wanting to get one of the new cumara's, i just have not pulled the trigger on one yet. the design to me looks about as perfect of a set up as i can imagine in a rod, I love the minimalist design of the rod, they cut just about everything they could off the rod as to reduce vibration dampening. I think you are going to like it a lot, unless you reel like you are going to pull a trigger on a gun, which in that case the short rear grip might not be the best fit for you...

I don't have the 6'8" but do have the 7'2" mf - CUC72MA.  I reported on this rod here:  New Cumara A Casting Rod - Initial And On-The-Water Reviews - Updated   I now use this rod, with a Core 50, as my primary light t-rig combo where it gives outstanding service.

In short, and as I mentioned in my review thread - fantastic blank, quality construction, and a rod series that one could build a fine arsenal around. HOWEVER, the grip behind the reel seat is absurdly short, and the spacing between that grip and the rear grip is too long (for me). While some might like the ergonomics of the Cumara A - I am not a fan.  I have gotten used to the grip enough to where I can fish with it...but really just don't care for it.  I was shopping for a new spinning rod a while back and briefly considered the Cumara A...but the grip in the spinning rod is just as "unfriendly" (for me) as the casting rod.  At this point, I can't really see myself purchasing any more of rods in this product line.

Thanks guys, plan on putting an MGX on it and using it for poppers, jerks and see if I can fish weightless Senkos with it and light Texas rigs 1/8-1/4. Hope it will do some of the things I use a spinning rod for now. The rod I broke was great but was pretty limited to what you could do with it.
