Swimbait/wakebait Questions

This one is 2-6oz but I saw the okuma is rated at 1oz for the lowest which would be better for sure. Thanks for the info though. I'll pass on it then.

Musky rods are a different league and would be too much rod even though the ratings are similar. I have a 7'6 heavy musky rod and it's a true broomstick despite a 2-6oz weight rating.

Talking rods in a lure thread seems off topic, it isn't.

Swimbaits are application specific lures and trying to select smaller light weight swimmers because you don't have the right rod limits what type and where you can use a swimbait.

The Okuma med-hvy swimbait 7"11" rod is very versatile for several lures up to 3 oz.; deep diving 3/4-1 oz crankbaits for example. The 5"-7" swimmers and wake baits of all types can be fished with this rod effectively.

If you plan on using heavier swimmers like 8" Hudd or Slammers, then go with a 7'11" heavy, still works well with the 1 oz lures.

Yep, completely different. My muskie rod is the same way, almost the exact same specs as my swimbait rod but just 2 completely different rods.

What would be the best gear ratio to use with the G2's?  6.4:1 

 

I am also looking at a getting a Swim Bait rod for throwing my (4) G2's.

 

Now thinking about a Okuma guide special swimbait med/hvy mentioned in this thred...

A 6:4 would be just fine for those G2's. High 5s to mid 6s are my preferred ratios for swimbaits.
