Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted March 28, 2014 Super User Posted March 28, 2014 Hit up Lox again today. Didn't find much happening in the canals other than a couple on a spook. Water was fairly dirty though. Got out into the grass flats and was in swimbait heaven. Wonderfully clear, moving water. Didn't boat any giants, but a bunch in the three pound range. Hooked something big, no clue what it was though. Water levels are lower than they were on Wednesday. Decided to call it a day around lunch. Somebody was clearing a bunch of land on the eastern side of the refuge. Burning trees and brush. Wind started to pick up quite a bit too. Good fun though. Just find that clear water and heave a paddletail. Quote
0119 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 The bass were on the feedbag today apparently recovered from the spawn. They were bigger than usual and all skinny. 3 were around 5lbs. and between the 2 of us we boated 36 in 4 hours. I also hooked a huge snook that had to hit over 20lbs., she jumped twice before wrapping me around bridge pilings and popping the 25# leader. The closer the front approached the quicker the bite was. A good day for a man made canal system. 2 Quote
SFL BassHunter Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 That spider wire I think failed on me. I'm telling you, it really isn't good. I can't stand it. Took it off one of my rods already. 1 Quote
Pz3 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Did a little night fishing. Broke my devils horse smacking it on metal by accident. Right after something big missed it... Then caught a 2-3lb fish on the zoom ole monster. Pulled him out of the lillys with a lilly still on the line. Really putting the new string and knot to the test purposely casting into reeds/trees/and lilly pads. Very happy with it all. 1 Quote
0119 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Too bad about the devil's horse. They are getting harder to find around here, not popular with 'new age' angler's. Quote

Yep it was the first braid I tried, guy at bps told me try it it is cheap if you like it get better stuff. I hated it, very bad line, so how would I ever try anything else? Lol lucky I did and braid is not bad if you get decent stuff. Quote

I haven't tried them but want to. I know lure net * is the official website for the brand and you can always find them there. Maybe next tackle order I will try to get one and see what all the fuss is about. 1 Quote
0119 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 That site is a excellent place to watch for clearances. Last year I got a box full of the photo finish ba-donk-a-donks for $2.49 each. 1 Quote

Super User BassinLou Posted March 30, 2014 Super User Posted March 30, 2014 This pretty bass kept me busy this evening. She was perched on a ledge, and I was fortunate to keep her buttoned after 2 failed attempts. I was using a t-rigged u-vibe and I caught her in my neighborhood canal. She went for 5lbs 13oz. 1 Quote
dsidle61 Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 pretty slow weekend here in jax.. took the boat out today, got chased out of our first stop due to howling winds and thick cover creeping towards the surface that made my trolling motor almost worthless. Stopped at a new spot missed a good one right off the bat on a u vibe and after that it was dead. pulled in a dink and missed a few more. 2 stops later I was fishless and called it a day. Nothing worse than a windy day trying to toss soft plastics and taking me all over a lake. Quote

Pz3 Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Today was pretty rough for me. The wind was pretty strong in some places and most of my bank fishing spots were slammed with people fishing. Not shoulder to shoulder but at least a dozen feet apart. Spent most of the day looking for new good spots. Didnt have much luck with that. Decided to head home and toss around in the lake by the house which was also slammed packed. Somehow I found a pickerel and right as the sun went down got a decent size fish. Still no toads but I will keep at it. Quote

gar-tracker Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Fished in a tournament on Toho Sat. I caught a few with Senko's and flipped up a couple on a craw. My partner caught a nice one on a spinner bait. The Extreme? Quote
Pz3 Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Got a new smithwick devilhorse in firetiger... it wasnt working right out of the box after a little tweaking I never got the buzz but made it produce a ton of bubbles. That was tempting enough for this guy which may be one of the bigger fish Ive caught. This is why you need one MCS 1 Quote
