piscicidal Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Have another tourney at Okeechobee this Saturday. Payout is really good. ~$6000 for 1st place. Leo and I are starting to figure it out a little bit there. Probably not enough to compete just yet, but we have a puncher's chance. Last two times out we've had fish over 7lbs and five fish limits over 17lb. I got one two weeks ago Thursday just over 7. Last Saturday, Leo got a pretty good one...this fish was about 26" long. A little fatter and she was double digit for sure. 2 Quote

bcarter261 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 What's up everyone! Orlando guy checking in here, just wanted to say hello... Any of you fish the winter park/ Maitland chain often? Been looking for some tips or fishing reports on the chain and haven't really found much worth reading, could use all the help I can get. I've been fishing a pretty long time but just got a boat and its a whole new world. Quote

Bass Commander Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Fishing buddy for south Florida. I'm on vacay starting tomorrow gonna bank fish until I get my bass tracker back from shop. IF any of you guys wanna join let me know Quote
Bass Commander Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Hey I was wondering. Have you guys tried the bombshell turtle soft plastics? The guy at bps swore by em and I can't get a whiff on em. Let me know if y'all have had any luck on em Quote
Backlash123 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I tried them a few times and nothing. Needless to say, I don't even carry them on the boat anymore. 1 Quote
Bass Commander Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Thanks dude. The only time I can see them working is during the spawn to get defensive females to attack them while on the nest but in that case a rock with a hook duct taped to it would probably work too so that doesn't say very much for the turtles lol Quote
Backlash123 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I agree. Good luck out there. Maybe I'll see you out there some day. Quote
Bass Commander Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Hey guys, I fished the canals off the side of us27 near Clewiston today managed 4 dinks lots of floating masses of weed drifting south with a lot of current it appears that they are pumping down lake okeechobee. There were literally hundred of bream and blue gill feeding off of stuff on those floating weeds. The bigger bass didn't seem to be eating too well today. Quote
Bass Commander Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Hey y'all I was wondering if you guys have fished yesterday or today I'm on vacation and fished both days on usually productive waters with just about every bait and lure and managed 1 dink yesterday on a senko and another 1 lber today on a trick worm. Fishing has been incredibly dead. All I can think of is that this ugly weather we have had has got the fish hunkered down refusing to eat. Have you guys experienced the same, or have I just been in a funk? Quote

Have you guys experienced the same, or have I just been in a funk? Hopefully you will get your boat back soon. Big G, was tearing them up over at the Holey Lands just last weekend. That's not to say that fishing may have turned off since then. We are entering the time of year where the fishing can become unpredictable. As fronts weak/strong come and go our fish down here can get real finicky. The time is quickly approaching in the glades where you can catch loads of fish one day, and be scratching your head the next. When days are slow, you have to roll the dice, take your time and cover water until you find a few that are willing to play. Good luck. 1 Quote
Bass Commander Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Yeah I should have it back by Tuesday had a bunch of stuff messed up on it. I've had it since july and haven't used it once. piscicidal Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Great job as always. Cant wait to here more about the trip. George George, Leo and I kind of flamed out in the RMMC tourney. Long story short, we took a wrong turn on a trail and couldn't back track due to all the boat traffic coming thru. By the time we were able to get to our spot, our buddies were sitting right on it. They weighed 22lbs for 3rd place. We dumped 11-12lbs. I fished with Jack (shallow thinker) the following week at Ghosts and Goblins. We weighed 13.84lbs and I had the 3rd biggest fish for the tourney (me on the right: 6.92lb) It's a common theme for me at Okeechobee...one big fish and a pile of 2lbers. The fish are so scattered and the weights are showing it. Only two boats over 20lb in the Ghosts and Goblins tourney (over 70boats). I know where the winning bags are coming from now, but it's not a situation I care to deal with. 50 boats competing for the same few fish. Had an awesome weekend at Loxahatchee though. Ripped some giants out there. 2 Quote

Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted October 28, 2014 Super User Posted October 28, 2014 I'm hoping to hit Lox this weekend. You know I'm going to get in touch with you Mike. Lol. I haven't been out there in a couple of months. No idea what's happening. Crazy how big your son has got since the last time I saw him. He's learning to catch them like a champ. 1 Quote

Gotfishyfingers? Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Nice pics! Those are some hawgs, for sure.. I've fished the lake the past 2 Saturdays and caught nothing over 2 lbs lol. I threw just bout everything to. Spinner, crank baits and topwater is all I can catch them on. This past Saturday was so windy the southside was a mud puddle in a lot of areas. The water being as high as it is allowed me to go deeper in the reeds to find cleaner water but no big bites. 1 Quote
bbodkin Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Anybody fished at Iamonia near Tallahassee lately? If was really windy today got no bites on everything. Crankbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs, frogs, worms, craws, nothin Quote
hawgenvy Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 My friend Steve and I bank fished a private golf course in Boca Raton last evening: no bites at all on assorted hard and soft plastics from 5-6 pm. We did see bass that we could not catch exploding bait they'd herded to the shoreline. I guess the bass just liked the real thing better. At 6 pm the shore blitz stopped. And now we noticed some subtle ripples 60 feet out. Then, wudya believe it?, we caught ourselves 26 two-pounders in just half an hour, right from the middle of the pond, using Srike King Zero senkos on shakey heads, wiggling in our retrieve fast enough to keep the baits at around a depth of two or three feet through the school of bass; and with this we pulled the little piglets in sometimes two at a time. Okay, I admit they weren't big bass, but they made us smile. I clearly recall many smallish bass schooling far from shore in Novembers past. Usually got them before with crankbaits. This time the salty orange Senko was Today's Special on the Halloween menu. 1 Quote

They are both in the 8lb range....mine was a little over and his a little under. But who's counting.... 2 Quote
