LOL... don't you hate it when that happens. You know you are chucking a big bass bait out there, you feel the tick of a pick up, you get your heart pumping with excitement and then!!!!...... dink   lol

Had one the other day flipping, and usually pitching a 1 oz into the thick stuff I set the hook pretty good. Felt a nice solid thump, so I hauled back and started on the reel handle, next thing I know this 6 inch dink is flying past me and tags the driver console with a rather large thud! I was like woops, sorry lil dude haha! He was definitely more stunned and disappointed then me though I can tell you that!

What plastics do you usually flip with?

4.20 and Kinky beavers, and I had a deadly weapon light flipping that killed it in Cali but looks like they are discontinuing them, Kinami D Bug. I dunno why, some serious weight caught on those on the delta during the yamamoto big bass challenge both years I went. Jason Borofka put me on to those, he put the hurt on bed fish with those. Tried out the Kinami Pyscho Dad but they suck. Also been trying the BB Crickets lately since thats pretty much all I hear about in FL but havent had much luck yet. Was just looking at those Culprit IncrediPunch think I'll try those next. I have 3 boxes of just flip baits, thats my go-to. Have used tubes, creatures, flappin hogs, yamamoto craws, they all work. Been light flipping speed worms into the spatterdocks after you guys turned me on to those, work really really well. Flip em in, let it sink, if no bite swim it out. Have had fish beeline from 7 feet away and hammer it, those really surprised me.

I like the crickets but I use a light weight and pitch...The incredi craws I like but I fished those more texas rigged dragging/hopping bottom....I just pick up the gambler why not. It is interesting, today was the first day I used it. It deffinitely is made to punch. But I think it will do ok for me. Also check out V&M I won some delta bugs off the other site and they are kinda like incredi craws meet beaver, plus they have a few more styles to choose from like a hula beaver combo.

I just fished with a friend who moved from AZ a couple yrs ago and hasn't fished much here, way different than what he is used to. Interesting to hear the differences.

Yep. Shes healthy as can be and accompanied me fishing already. She had a slight case of Jaundice. I figured a little indirect sunlight under some trees for an hour would go a long way. Did some test the next day. Results came back and it was all cleared up.

I caught 19lbs for a win on the north end last week, that's a 12:00 weigh in, fishing alone.

Congrats on the win.  You know if you took a bath more often, you could get someone to fish with you. :eyebrows:

Looks like Ocklawaha lake and river is a no go. One fish around 5+ took  a bite and spit it. That was my day.

I'll keep my typical attitude rolling about fishing in the Gainesville area... garbage!

This redfish thing out here in the North West coast is looking better every day I go for bass.

Bank fishing here near the Tohos has been rough. The heat has definitly pushed them farther off shore and into deeper water.

I don't expect to see too many reports from July thru Sept. Fishing gets a little challenging, and unless you are fishing early morning or evening/night, many will not endure the day time heat. Good luck this summer!!

I do know of a few deep ponds no one ever fishes. I lost my live target frog at one when a 3-4lber wrapped me up on a cable. Swimming a jig at night landed me a few as well. Fishing water fountains at night is interesting. The bass lurke outside the light and swim in for the kill.

You got it. Look for the same situations in ponds. The cool and cover of the shadows is where they will be near the freeways for bait fish.

I've been bank fishing local residential and golf course ponds around Boca Raton, but things are winding down, it seems, as we're getting into July. I don't know where the LMB go in the summer -- all the places I fish are just a few feet deep anyway, so unless they migrate somewhere else they are in that shallow, murky water somewhere.  Last week I go over to the most local of local ponds, a half mile from home, a featureless pond between two nursing homes, and adjacent to a small road.  But there is submerged weed along the shore that hold 2 to 4 lb bass at the outer edge that I can usually entice with Zoom toads, EZ swimmers or Senkos. Anyway, I'm the only one I've ever seen fishing there, which is in my favor. This may have something to do with the No Trespassing sign over by the nursing home. So, I'm fishing the bank around 8pm and so far only land one fish, no bigger than my EZ Swimmer.  A guard pulls up on a golf cart and informs me the entire lake is private property and I absolutely cannot fish there. I am very bummed. After asking politely, he allows me to fish the bank on the way back to my car. Two casts later my phone rings and it's my wife, who I better answer right away. So I let the EZ sink just beyond the weeds while I explain I'll be home in five minutes. When I then go to reel in there is something huge pulling on the line which turns out to be, after a crazy struggle through the weeds and lots of adrenaline, one of the biggest bass I have ever landed, weighing 7.01 lbs on my digital scale, the screen on it probably reflecting my ****-eating grin.  So what if I can never fish there again?  I've already caught the biggest lunker in that pond. I get home late and my wife doesnt care that I caught a great fish.  The next day just for the hell of it I look up the property lines on a government web site. It turns out the entire shoreline is "recreational parkland" and not owned by the nursing homes after all. I can fish there whenever I want. Maybe I'll catch that big girl again some day, when she is even bigger.

Nice Hawgenvy. Was good to read too. I been meaning to get back into the swimmers. Got caught up using gamblers I forgot how much I like the softer plastic.

So tonight I gave a kvd square bill a little work. Some dinks and two 3lbers.
