yea, sometimes it seems that way. This snook season i couldn't catch any snook, even though iv seen a 12 inch mullet getting slammed by a big 40 pound snook the other day, im going to the jetties and use red tail hawks and poppers to see if i get one, meanwhile im fishing for bass witch is my favorite gamefish to catch.

Hit MM31 South side at the Alley yesterday from 7:30am to 10:30am was wicked hot already. Trying out the speedworm, had it rigged on 1/8oz weight texas rigged and was flipping it into the spatterdocks and swimming it out. Had about 20 fish, all under 1lb. They absolutely hammer that thing! I watched multiple fish turn complete 180's from 5 feet away and go crashing after it. Seconds later, thump! I didnt set the hook on alot, would have had 10-15 more but since I saw them hit the worm or dragged them up to the surface I knew they were small. Didnt try a ton of other stuff since I had a bite every other cast with the speedworm. Threw the hollow body, all gar biting the legs. Horny toad had a few rolls, nothing on the spook. I got there a little late in the morning though.

My only solid keeper was from trying out the bigger worm, had a 11 inch curly tail texas with a 3/8oz. I came up on a spot where there was an airboat path going in on the south side, and there was sandy light colored bottom next to the tules. About 100 gar swimming around, some huge ones biggest I have seen so far, and a couple bass mixed in. I saw a bigger bass so I flipped him and he ate it, went maybe 2lbs. Not sure what was going on with that spot, it was only about a foot deep but there was fish PACKED in to that one small area. Ive never seen that many fish in one spot before, about the size of a living room. They didnt even leave when I blew the spot up bringing that one in. Headed in after that, I was roasting called it an early day since the fam let me go out by myself.

Side note: First time I used that ramp, I always go to MM35 rest area. Last time I use that ramp too. Horrible ramp, steep as **** and road was half missing. I wanted to save some time since I knew thats the side and direction ( I always see guys in that canal driving by going to 35 ) I wanted to fish but launching was such a PITA it probably didnt save me anything. Normally I can self launch or trailer in less than 2 minutes, that one had to adjust the boat in the bunks since it was so steep took quite a bit longer.

Hey anyone been out to Lake Trafford recently? If so, how is it right now? Heard its been making a comeback and want to try it out, but don't want to waste a day.

Bite has been better up here. Lots of rain. Nothing special but they were definitely nibbling. I might get out with a buddy on Ocklawaha/Rodman in the next few weeks.

Caught this one on a balsa boogie crankbait in a private lake in Jacksonville, FL. Caught about 30 between me and my pops. two guys were catching so many 3-4lb bass on live shiners and keeping them that they had to sit on the coolers to keep them from flopping out. Absolutely ruined the mood after this fish I caught. That is how our fisheries die out. And being a pond hopper in the jacksonville area, we dont have much anyways! Also fished out of trout creek a few days ago and ran down to tocoi. Fishing was slow, senkos around eel grass and some topwater action. Talked to a guy who said he had about 19lbs on a chatter bait and rage tail fishing SLOOWWWWW in the eel grass. TX this weekend out of trout creek, I hope all goes well. Anyone have any news on Sante Fe or the surrounding lakes in that area? I want to take the pondhopper out to one of those smaller ones. which is best?

Man Jacksonville has been producing those double digit fish this past week or so! 3 people in the FB group have posted double digit fish all since last Saturday. One fish wasn't weighed but she definitely looks the part, one went 11.5, and the one caught today went 10.3.

Still waiting on mine as I know numerous others are as well lol.

Should have called FWC on the guys keeping them. One good fine and possible arrest would keep them from doing it again and possibly prevent any friends they may tell or find out about it. It's *** if you ask me.

X2 if they are keeping them on private property without permission that's poaching. Funny thing is I never run into nobody fishing the times I fish.... 5, 6, 7 am not a soul is ever out fishing.

I could be mistaken but I do believe the state of Florida owns all pieces of water and manage them as well. The only places that are not managed by them are pay to fish lakes where the owners are responsible for stocking andanahing their own land. All the canals and such are all property of the state and FWC has jurisdiction over them all. Even in "private" communities unless there is a paid envirwntalist there to study the effects of removing bass from their waters.

Don't know about Miami but the peacock bite seems to be slowing down.  Have only spotted a few and couldn't coax a strike over the last week.

Caught 3 nice snook yesterday morning.

Yep that is correct. I spoke to a FWC officer at a publix pond they manage the fish in ponds even on private property. The pond owner maintains the actual pond, fountain, storm water devices etc.And the ponds are still private and harvesting fish are the same as other game. You need permission to fish and remove the fish. It is poaching. The statutes are clear about this but most folks don't know it. Just like most folks that do the bucket thing with two full coolers don't know the creel limit or have a license. That is why I think the new creel length change is a moot point. The folks that know the laws are guys like us that tourney fish or practice C&R for the most part. The ones eating all the 16" and larger are the fools taking them by buckets without a valid license.

Would anybody be opposed to a new FL law that does not allow the keeping of bass during spawning season?

Ive seen to many full of eggs being kept this year. Thats a lot of potential fish disapearing.

Well this new law is 4 - under 14"  and one over for a 5 fish limit. So I think you limit the number of fish with eggs right there. But I doubt anyone who keeps them cares. Lou just ran into a meat hunter with 12 4-6 pounders on a rope. Think he knows there is a new law up for porposal? The guy doesn't even know current law.

This guy at the park, was watching me fish, then struck up a conversation with me, where he then proudly took out his cell phone and showed me a pic with beautiful LMB all on a rope stringer hauled off. When I told him if he was aware he was breaking the law, he was aloof. Fortunately, he caught them in some other lake down South somewhere. But even at the park, people have their stringers of nice bass completely unaware/caring that there are laws in place.

Caught this nice 21"r at the park today. The fish were pretty active today. Caught 6. The weather was helpful. Overcast with a breeze from the SE.

Nice park bass

Is that a felony to keep that many?

No just a fine from $100 to $500 fine and suspension of the license they don't have lol. hunting without a license is a misdemeanor I assume fishing without is the same  It really only get serious if you are selling the kill or have alligator or crocidile or their eggs that is a felony I think. They are also more worried about salt fish like snook, tarpon and sea turtles. But this is just off the top of my head.

Here I googled it, 379 is FWC and us bank fisherman might want to read the trespassing law too that is 800 something.

Fishing has been great for me actually, haven't caught less than 5 in the past couple weeks. Rain has been crazy though 0_o The overcast weather is keeping the fish more active it seems.

I'm going to do a little retention pond fishing this weekend.

Hopefully going with a buddy next weekend. I stopped into a local tackle store for the good word out and a certain body of water produced 40+ bass in one day. With all this rain and whatnot, seems us Florida guys are getting a nice summer break right now from the hot and sunny dog days.

Not telling. I need all the luck and lack of fishing pressure I can get up here in G'ville.  I gotta keep you fools off the water!
