SamTheHam Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I'm buying 2 myself. Going to try to get the girlfriend out to see how she likes it. Any recommendations on where to fish in holiday ? Quote
bobletcs Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Depends on the water level. If low, the canals should be great. I've been all over but seem to find the closer to miami canal it gets a little better. But, i'm still a noobie out there Quote
Super User geo g Posted June 3, 2014 Super User Posted June 3, 2014 Bring allot more water then you think you'll need just incase something happens to the motor. The one thing you have to have is clean water. Quote
Shanes7614 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 C-14.... Most canals not connected to the glades SHOULD be safe. Loxahatchee is loaded with them as well. Also think abou a higher seat on a kayak means it's less stable. Out your weight higher the the center point. I wouldn't be a much concerned about them coming at you but in case of a capsize those waters are not places I would wanna take my chances. Idk where you are located but kayaking on a bunch of the local canals should be pretty safe. Scope out the waters before you fish them. PZ3.... Went again today to the Marsh and we started out on fire. Ranging from 1.5 lbs to 5lbs. 5 fish in less then an hour. Then the bite just STOPPED. Fished another 5 hours and nothing. Wind picked up a little but not even close to Sunday when BBD picked up that 7lbs on the way in. Weird place in general. I picked one off on a lipless finally for the first of the day. Then followed up with the BBD special myself one and him 2. He also got one on a swim bait. All scent fish but again just stopped biting. The local guys were fishing some weird open spots that I'm sure with electronics we could figure out why. As far as your shaky heads. It's kinda hard to finesse fish something when your surrounded by two guys throwing power fishing type baits. I know different baits are good to try but I think we were moving around too fast for that technique to really have worked out for you. I was a little surprised by the no frog fish for any of us. Only thing interested was that little gator. Lol. Try your shaky head on Toho in a little deeper water near a drop off. Quote
Shanes7614 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 C-14... If your in the boca area PM me and we can get together in my canoe and hit some local places. I'm in Boynton. Plenty if canals and small lakes that bigger boats don't even enter. Quote

Jaxassassin Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I'm in Jacksonville. Been slaying the bass on Zoom Ol' Mag II Watermelon Red worms. It's a 9.5 inch curly tail and it has been doing the trick great. Also, catching some good numbers in the mornings on Rubber frogs. Went fishing last weekend and a buddy and I racked up 20+ bass with three being in the 8-12lb range in about 7-8 hours of fishing time. I've caught a few on the watermelon red senkos too. I texas rig them with a 1/8 or 1/4oz bullet weight. 1 Quote
bass Czar Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 nice. where do you fish at? Thanks LMB King I fish in Jacksonville Quote
NorthFloBassin Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Worm fishing just slowed up for me but sqaurebills have been great early in the morning and frogs up real swallow from 8-10 has been crushing them. I don't know why but the bass just stopped hitting the worm for me over here in tally. Weird right? 1 Quote
Pz3 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Ive had a bad time with worms and jigs lately. The frog seems like it gets hit the most though. Crankbaits / jerkbaits have been the most steady bite. Quote
C-14 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 NorthFloBassin, yup.. watermelon red flake senko's were working good a few weeks ago, but lately not so much. I haven't had much luck with top waters like a spook jr or frogs yet. Probably my technique needs work, I think "walk the dog" pretty well but maybe its too fast. I'm gonna try slowing it down to like a second per jerk and see what happens. Thanks for the tip on trying with a square bill.. maybe i'll have better luck. Quote
bassinOUT89 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Hey how's it going everybody. South florida guy her. From the Coral Springs area. Took my brother out to Holiday park today. Only managed to catch 2 bass. We couldn't find anything that would work. Ended up catching 3 gar off shiners I had from the day before when I took my gf out here in Coral Springs. Quote

I'm also from coral springs. I too have not been having much luck these last few days. Senko's are all that worked but at a much slower hit rate than a few weeks ago. Was it not smoky when you went to holiday park? My cars and everything are covered in a thin film of ash from the brush fires. 1 Quote
shawnFL Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Great evening of bass fishing in southwest Florida using a heddon baby torpedo in g shad. All hits explosive and exciting. Worth the mosquito bites for a change. Quote
