Larry C. Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Funny you mention it, I recently got that new rod and they spooled it free at Bass Pro. Their line is pure garbage. I got wind knots on 8lb mono, and my line snapped once as I cast. The lure flew to the other side of the lake. Lucky for me the wind was pushing pretty hard in my direction. About 10 minutes later my lure got close enough to my bank that my friend was able to hook it and reel it in for me. Almost lost the crank that caught me all them fish. I'd be down for that! I had the pleasure of fishing with Larry C. the other day. He's a great guy! That sounds like a fantastic idea!!! Let's do it! Thanks for the kind words Rick it was a pleasure fishing and hanging with you.We should definitely do a South Florida meet up. Quote

Super User MCS Posted May 14, 2014 Super User Posted May 14, 2014 Spiderwire is absolute garbaggio, sufix performance brad and steen sonic braid are fantastic. So are the high dollar seaguar braids Agree, spider wire was my first braid I wouldn't use braid for years after that first traumatic experience lol. I got a deal on stren and it is a sleeper their braid I would say is second to power pro. Stren just looses its color a little more but IMO is a little softer. I didnt like how the sufix felt, it feels just like spider in hand and I refuse to purchase. Quote
Mattbasscrusher Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 The sufix 832 is good but it loses color quickly, but it stays round forever lol I haven't got a spool of performance braid in 5 years since 832 came out and now in regretting it, it holds color great and has very good abrasion, it's a rougher line but after using it for a day it breaks in real nice Power pro is so hit or miss for me, I hear that. 40 lb breaks like no tmm Quote
Pz3 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I prefer suffix but recently I didnt have 20$ to spend on it and really wanted 30lb braid. Have to be honest i got a 12$ spool of 30lb spider wire... To me. It seems all 10lb braid is absolutely garbage. This 30 lbs spiderwire isnt bad at all in my opinion. Esp if you are on a budget. Quote
Super User MCS Posted May 14, 2014 Super User Posted May 14, 2014 I am telling you PZ next get the stren sonic braid it is the ****. If only gander carried it. 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 15, 2014 Super User Posted May 15, 2014 Don't know about 40# PP breaking as I don't use braid that heavy, Power Pro in 10-15-20 and 30# has worked just fine for me. The majority of my freshwater fishing is done with 10# braid, have not encountered problems with any of the popular brands. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted May 15, 2014 Super User Posted May 15, 2014 Be careful out there my South Florida peeps. The rain and flooding is unreal out there. Good news however.... after all this, the canals are going to have water flow, fishing should be interesting. Quote
Pz3 Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Went out and got two this morning on east lake toho but I wasnt happy at all. The fish were sickly looking with blisters and really skinny. Pumpkin/watermelon boo jig. Quote
Rovingmutt Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Went out and got two this morning on east lake toho but I wasnt happy at all. The fish were sickly looking with blisters and really skinny. Pumpkin/watermelon boo jig. I got one 2 weeks ago that had blisters on it, wonder what that was. Quote
Pz3 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Ive seen this in quiet a few lakes and you see it in tournaments as well but usually they dont look this bad. Also seen it in crappie before. Question is... why? Its obviously a parasite of some sort. You can see them squirming around on the fish. Anyone know more about these parasites and sores? Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 16, 2014 Super User Posted May 16, 2014 I've been doing quite a bit peacock fishing, the canals where I target them are extremely low so maybe the rain will help some. For the first time in ages I did some bass fishing behind my home, it rained hard all nite yesterday. I caught some sizable bass. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted May 17, 2014 Super User Posted May 17, 2014 Hey Pz3.... the Seibert spinnerbaits have not caught me any decent bass yet, however this guy decided to tangle with it.... This fish is called a jaguar guapote, we have a lot them down here in Miami. Enjoy!! 3 Quote
BassObsessed Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Iv'e had quite a few of those in Aquariums over the years . Not many fish would survive in the same tank. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted May 17, 2014 Super User Posted May 17, 2014 Today was also slow, and I decided to switch gears since these little guys were around. No records were broken, but its been awhile since I caught one. 2 Quote
SFL BassHunter Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 I went out for about an hour and got a bite but lost it. To much wind at the park made it a tough day. Quote
Pz3 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Went for an hour after work yesterday. Got two dinks. Ive been catching so many on jigs as of late im really considering a plano jig tray and loading it up full. Quote
Michaelt1987 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Came down to Buena Vista for the weekend to hit Universal Studios. I decided to go out yesterday while my girlfriend and kids were swimming at the Nickelodeon Hotel. There's a small pond that you have to jump a fence but it was worth it. I caught a bass on almost every cast with a bluegill scatter rap. Not nothing too big but still fun. Then some kids stated to walk up to the fence screaming gator which I seen myself before I jumped the fence. But I decided to end my day before anyone from the hotel came over to run me off. This is a bass fisherman's dream with the thousands of ponds and lakes here. I wish I had a vacation home here just to stay and fish full time. 1 Quote
