Michaelt1987 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Went out around 10 this morning flipping a 10 inch ribbon tail worm in the pads and caught around 6. Tied my chatter bait on and caught 3 more before I got it hung up on a lily pad and broke off. The biggest was 3.11 and the smallest was 2lbs. Just glad I got another set of scales on hand. Quote
Michaelt1987 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Yeah kinda tough trying to get a good shot and not give away my spot with the back ground lol Quote
bass Czar Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 caught this yesterday off a bed on a rocket craw Quote
SFL BassHunter Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 After several skunks I am back in the game. Today was a perfect day for fishing. I was able to connect on 7 fish. 2 were dinks but who cares because I got my PB today 2 times! Thats right! My first PB was a 2.15 lber and then the big headed largemouth that I couldn't weigh but judging by its length, large head and feel of the fish I would have to say it was anywhere between 4 and 4.5 1 Quote

Spent all day at cb smth and only got a one pounder. Quote
SFL BassHunter Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Silver and Black Crank for 6 of the fish. The 7th with a lipless blue and silver crank. Quote
Pz3 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Nice catches Rick. Definitly in the 4lb range. I went for a few hours this morning. After torturing my line with a few fish I couldnt land and hanging it up in the trees a few times. I managed to bird nest it and have the line break. Once again watching a lure fly away. No biggie though. That was definitly my fault. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted May 11, 2014 Super User Posted May 11, 2014 I had a great day fishing today. It was month's in the making and today was the day we were able to pull it off. I had the great fortune to finally meet and fish with our very own MCS. He was a trooper, and made the drive down from Jax early this morning to meet up with me and fish in Everglades. We met at the ramp around 730am and fished til about 3pm. Although windy, we were able to boat 38-40 fish and lost as many. The two biggest fished landed were 5lbs and 4.5lbs. It was absolute treat to meet up with MCS and fish the glades with him. Thanks MCS!! Here is a pic of the 5lbr caught on a frog!! 3 Quote
Super User MCS Posted May 11, 2014 Super User Posted May 11, 2014 No thank you Lou for letting me tag along. Learned alot about fishin down south. The chunk rock, the cover, cracking the code and working the frog. Truly a pleasure! Can't wait for next time 3 Quote
Pz3 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 This is what makes Bass Resource so enjoyable. Maybe sooner or later we can get an entire Florida members fishing weekend. Nice to see you two had fun. Quote

Nice to see you two had fun. Thanks PZ3, I have been extremely lucky to meet and fish with 4 BR Florida members, and I can proudly call them my friends. It was an absolute joy to show MCS the ropes and teach him how to fish our waters. From what MCS described to me its a night and day difference. I had blast MCS, til next year. Quote
Pz3 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Hey hey your forgot one thing. How did the new spinners do? or were the frogs killing it mostly? Quote
Super User geo g Posted May 11, 2014 Super User Posted May 11, 2014 GLAD both of you had a nice day in the glades, and you both got a chance to play with some of the locals. I wish I could have gotten out there with you today, but I am scheduled for tomorrow morning. I hope MCS is not driving all the way back up there tonight. Quote

No biggie though. That was definitly my fault. Funny you mention it, I recently got that new rod and they spooled it free at Bass Pro. Their line is pure garbage. I got wind knots on 8lb mono, and my line snapped once as I cast. The lure flew to the other side of the lake. Lucky for me the wind was pushing pretty hard in my direction. About 10 minutes later my lure got close enough to my bank that my friend was able to hook it and reel it in for me. Almost lost the crank that caught me all them fish. that would be cool, a bass resource meet up for florida guys, I'd be down for that! I had the pleasure of fishing with Larry C. the other day. He's a great guy! 1 Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted May 11, 2014 Super User Posted May 11, 2014 Hey hey your forgot one thing. How did the new spinners do? or were the frogs killing it mostly? Pz3, I know you have been patiently waiting on a review of the spinnerbaits. This glades trip and most glade trips I primarily throw frogs. With the amount of top water action I got, spinnerbait was nowhere on my radar. Trust me when I say, that when I get onto fish with these new spinnerbaits, you will be the first to know. 1 Quote
Pz3 Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Pittboss I switched to suffix 832 braid. Its night and day difference between the other braids. Quote
SFL BassHunter Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 Yeah I have suffix on one of my rods. But this new rod they spooled with mono for free so I took it. When it's gone I will spool it with suffix. Quote

My fly fishing buddies have been catching spinner sharks up there. I thought about heading out to the beach or jupiter inlet. But I was beat and didn't think getting up that early would go over well with my body and the drive back. Maybe next time I am down there I can hit the surf with you. Quote

Incoming tide and s/e wind, not the best conditions for snook at Jupiter inlet, good place to get hooked in the back of head too. lol. Surf would be cool sometime. Quote
Pz3 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Fished Johns Lake with BBD today. No pigs but the dinks were hitting an interesting selection of lures. The worms, fluke, jigs, spoon, and lipless crank all got a little action. Had a great time out on the water regardless! Quote
