Super User BassinLou Posted May 4, 2014 Super User Posted May 4, 2014 Today might be decent, only supposed to go up to about 84 degrees in the middle of the day. These blue bird skies can make the fishing a little challenging. Hopefully I can go out for a little bit later this evening again. Quote
Pz3 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Im still waiting to see what that bluegill spinner reels in. Quote

Super User geo g Posted May 5, 2014 Super User Posted May 5, 2014 This morning was tough along Weston Road. Wind was howling and the bass bite was slow. Caught three small bass at a culvert over a two hour period.. Tonight at Vista View Park in Davie, the bite was a lot better. From 5 to 7:30 I caught 12 with several in the 2.5 range. Weightless senko type bait did the trick. All bites were on or near the bottom. It ended up a lot better then this morning. Quote
SamTheHam Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Got this one today. It was a slow day bit at least one landed on a senko in the middle of the day. Can I get an estimate on the weight? It's small but it's my biggest so far. Quote
Pz3 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Ive seen bigger fish then that weight in far lower then what ive expected and since then Ive always lowered my weight estimates. 2lbs is probably a little high. I would guess around 1.3lbs. As far as toho goes. Swimbait it up! Quote
Pz3 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Edited my post. I would go with swimbaits. I havent been on west lake but over on east ive been getting lucky with gambler duz it, 10inch ribbon tails, and magnum speed worms. Quote
Pz3 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I would say fairly good. Seen multiple 12s 10s and 8s pulled out in the last year. Quote
JellyMan Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Did Mike actually find Bass in Gainesville? Yes! I have indeed finally found some Bass. Local retention pond. Stocked with Bass, baitfish, and turtles that follow you around as you walk the shoreline. Happiest retention pond I have ever seen. Bass were decently healthy and good size. I am curious as to if there are bigger in there. Only thing is that this is a retention fishery so there is as of now, no shoreline cover to throw at other than an overhanging tree which is where I caught all my fish. I'm sure there are small rock piles, drops, points around where they hang deep but I have to find them somehow. It's interesting that the fish all had decent color which means they are either finding cover or down deep most of the time. Anyways... I finally found some local fish. Feels good! Everybody needs that local pond where they can go get a line wet for an hour or two. 1 Quote

Everybody needs that local pond where they can go get a line wet for an hour or two. When I'm fishing retention ponds I usually fish parallel to the bank a few feet off the bank. I also catch them around the culvet pipes or in the corners of the pond. Most of the time they like to hide in the grass to ambush smaller fish. I'm sure they're bigger fish in that pond. I've fished a local pond a few times a week for over a year and just caught the biggest I've seen yet a few weeks ago. 1 Quote
Pz3 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Fish structure for sure! Ive watched the bass in East toho on days like today. They go completely lazy in the shallows and snuggle up to cover but pretty much go to sleep. I would say mid depth fish are your best bet. Look for shell beds with a smooth slope into deeper waters and use a good swim bait or crankbait. You should catch some pigs. P.S. everytime I watch boats from shore they all make the same mistakes. Fishing right against the reeds and visible grass. Find that grass below the surface in deeper waters amd you should be good to go. Less pressure in thoughs areas. Quote
SamTheHam Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Caught these two yesterday after work in Pembroke Pines. Quote
BoricuaBassin' Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I live in Land O' Lakes. I have some good luck with Junebug red worms Texas rigged. I fish off a buddy's dock. The bass on my pic was caught using a wild shiner from the lake. Also been using some swim baits and I have been catching some 1lbs and 2 lbs. I try to go once a week to improve my fishing. Quote
Pz3 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Not on a boat. Fished the canal between the two. Moss park has a good boat launch but have to pay to get in the park. No fish today? 1 Quote
bass Czar Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Czar you ever do any tournaments? no but I would like to Quote
Pz3 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 In the canal it is huge pressure. I would think the rest of the lake is as well. However they are recreational fishers usually. By that I mean they fish off and on through the year and arent to keen on bass fishing. You could probably locate spots not many people touch. I would check out trout lake or alligator lake. You can get access off of 192. I liked the water quality down there. Quote
bass Czar Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 My Sunday's catch with Ak we caught tons of small fish that day it was crazy Quote
Super User MCS Posted May 9, 2014 Super User Posted May 9, 2014 I will throw up one I got lastnight phone died right after so I couldn't get a better pic. 2 Quote
redux Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Yep. Texas rig weightless just like geo g. Nice and slow. They seem to hit on the second or third drop on a cast. Ive been using green/silver, watermelon w/ red flakes, and a red/black senko. I live in the WP too. I've had a decent amount of success with Okeechobee magic, watermelon black flake, 3" swim baits, and 3/8 spinner baits. Quote
