Super User geo g Posted November 2, 2014 Super User Posted November 2, 2014 Mike you are the man at Lox. That's great the kids got a shot at great fish, with you. One of these days I'll get up there soon, hard to pass on the Holey Land right now for shear numbers. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted November 2, 2014 Super User Posted November 2, 2014 Was tempted to go back out today, but I just don't do cold windy mornings. My body doesn't like moving... Decided to go to Holiday yesterday just to run the boat and relax a little. Brought two rods with me. Flipped up 20 pounds in two and a half hours and called it quits. The water is way up high right now. Barely had to back down the ramp to put the boat in. Apparently fishing was pretty hot everywhere this weekend from what I've heard. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted November 6, 2014 Super User Posted November 6, 2014 Lox - Thursday morning Water temp was just over 68 degrees and the fish are starting to stage for an early spawn. I suppose the cold weather and the moon phase had something to do with that. Lots of small males moving into bedding areas. Only finished with around 18 pounds. Boated around 40 fish though, with the biggest going 4.5 - 5. I took off around 1:00 because they started burning brush near the ramps. With the winds out of the east it just started to smoke the whole southern end of the refuge. All in all it was d**n fun. Weighted Burner worms and Speed worms were the ticket for the day. It was blowing pretty good, so I wanted to keep the baits down under the surface. Definitely made me want to look into a talon or a power pole. One the better sheer numbers days I've ever had out there. Shame I couldn't get the better quality bites. I'd fully expect to see some really good fishing in the next week or two out there when the females start moving in. Water levels are fairly high. You can run around pretty much anywhere and get back deep into the trails. Quote
piscicidal Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Fished Okeechobee with Leo yesterday. Â Pretty good day. Â Five biggest about 21-22lbs...enough to have won the tourney out of Slims if we had chose to fish it (Burke won with 20.5). Â Planned on quitting a little early though (2:00) to get back to FTL. Â Had three fish over 4.5lbs, including this 7lber. Â 3 of my last 4 trips to Okeechobee, I've caught 7lbers....I probably should have fished the Big Bass Challenge today. Â Looks like a perfect day for fishing... Â 1 Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted November 9, 2014 Super User Posted November 9, 2014 Congrats Mike. This is the season were you start posting big bass pics. Last year it was Lox, this year your throwing in Lake O pigs. Your on fire dude!! WTG!! Quote
ZRT-42 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Pretty new to this forum, From the Southern part of Broward County. Looking for a good place to fish from the bank. I would fish all the time in my neighborhood but the association just put a rule against fishing so it killed all the lakes that I would fish at, even put a notice on my door. Appreciate any info, Thanks Daniel. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted November 14, 2014 Super User Posted November 14, 2014 Welcome to the forums. Its unfortunate that you can't fish your association's lake. Those lakes can hold some very good fish. The good news is however, there are plenty of spots in South Broward. There are canals galore with bank access. Another option is studying Google Earth for your area. Several nugget spots can be found. Goodluck. 1 Quote
ZRT-42 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Yeah it was sweet fishing here until the HOA told me I could no longer fish. The lake was three houses down so I could walk there and I would constantly catch bass all morning. Now I just drive to the outside of the neighborhood and fish there but it's not the same at all. But thanks for the information BassinLou appreciate it. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted November 14, 2014 Super User Posted November 14, 2014 Make sure you check your association rules. Most of the time residents are permitted to fish their local waters inside the development. 1 Quote
piscicidal Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Had a really good session at Okeechobee yesterday. Five biggest "only" about 23lbs but it was probably one of the best days I've had out there...had a 6 and a 5 and a pile of 3s and 4s. Probably caught a hundred pounds of fish, total. I'm doing something a little different than the pack now and I think it can hold up for awhile. We'll see...gonna put it to the test in the Giblets and Gravy tourney coming up. mplspug Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 We just moved and lease. Our house is part of a HOA.  But the HOA is confusing because there is 1 HOA but 2 classifications.  I can't find any information online about the HOA, but my neighbor says I can fish the ponds and I have been until I am told otherwise.  The funny thing is the only bass I have caught so far has been out of a retaining pond  that is connected to the pond by a man made "spillway" that is dry, but allows water to flow into the retention it when there is flooding like we had earlier this year.  The retention pond is the only place I have had luck so far and it is devoid of much cover.  I prefer it now over the other pond because it would be tough to land one through the lilypads that grow along the shore. I wasn't very confident fishing it until I actually pulled a bass out of there and saw another floating that appeared to be starving to death. Quote

Look into your HOA policy. I don't understand why you can't fish there if your a resident. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted November 15, 2014 Super User Posted November 15, 2014 There are not a blanket rules that covers all HOA properties, each community has their own set of "Docs". Â From time to time these docs might get amended, at ours the updates are furnished to us periodically. Â Not knowing your community I certainly don't know what's going on. Â It's perfectly fine to fish anywhere in my community, although when I first moved here some residents were unaware of that and complained, even an HOA board member. Â I reread the docs, I then showed it to that HOA board member and never had a problem again. Â My discovery was that few people really read those docs, especially regarding items in areas that they had no interest in, like fishing. Â You may want to inquiry if there is hard copy of the amendment available, not saying this is the case but there is always a possibility some one is blowing wind up your A...... 1 Quote
John G Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Skunked today. A few bites and nothing landed. Too hot and no rain!  The mudfish bite was on today tho... IMHO, If the Mudfish bite is on, then you didn't get skunked because I'd be happy catching Mudfish all day! 1 Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted November 16, 2014 Super User Posted November 16, 2014 Finally got out to the glades today. Went out to 2 places actually. Our first stop was the Holeylands where I met up with Big G for a little while. (It's always nice hanging with you George). My BIL and I fished at the HL's from 830 to 11:30am. I did manage to land a nice 19" bass and a few more fish but ultimately decided to move over to the US 27 finger channels. Once we arrived on 27 I landed a 5.5lb 21" right off the bat. We fished til about 5:15pm. Overall it was great day. Beautiful weather clean water and some nice fish. We landed a total of 24 bass. Here are some pics of the nicer fish of the day. 2 Quote
piscicidal Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Your the "the man" now but its only going to be a matter of time at this pace before you become "da man" Â WTG Mike. Â Not even close to "the man" at Okeechobee, but I'm getting better. Â Appreciate the sentiment though. Â Went out yesterday...ran some new water. Â Had about 16lbs...Two 4lbers. Quote
JellyMan Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Where'd this thread go? Anyways...  A little update. New boat and new prey. Just picked up a skiff and because of the tough bass bite, doing a bit more inshore stuff. Loving it.  I still get out for dem bass tho.   Quote
mplspug Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Nice. Â I won't be on the market for a boat until next year, but I am looking for something that I can bass fish out of, but still take it inshore fishing as well. The one caveat is the girlfriend wants her say. Â That means small enough to be able to troll around a shorline for bass, but big enough and comfortable for chilling in the sun.Welcome aboard! Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 1, 2015 Super User Posted May 1, 2015 Nice looking skiff for inshore use. Â Boynton area a bit slow, did come off hot jack streak but that's ended. Â Catching a few snook on artis but only on the outgoing. Â Cuda have been pretty good on the tide change, I did hook my first tarpon in a while the other day, didn't land it. Quote
Rented Mule Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 JellyMan, nice lookin rig !  PA in the summer, Levy County in the winter( sometimes in the summer too). I'm in PA now, but next week I'll be down on Wacasassa bay for a week or so until the heat gets the best of me, then I'll head back up.  Quote

SFL BassHunter Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Never caught a fish on a lipless... That's the only lure I've never caught a fish on. I like the lipless, but I seem to use them a lot less due to the fact that they are easier to lose. I should use them more often. Quote
