Yeah that happens time to time. I would be fishing with a big gator near by and little kids would be extremely worried about me being eaten lol.

New to the forum, and live in Pembroke Pines. Had some good luck this morning. This fish decided to follow my worm all the way up to shore and hit it two feet from me pulling it out of the water. Scared the life out of me lol post-48347-0-58035400-1400531495_thumb.j post-48347-0-70555300-1400531497_thumb.j

Hey fellas I've been stationed here in Clearwater Florida for 3 years now and looking to fish the bassmaster weekend series in June as a co angler, anyone in here going to fish it as a boater? I'd like to sign up to guarantee me a fishing spot in the tournament. Also I know this being my first post is a little brash but hey I love tournament fishing. I did it a lot with my dad back on the west coast but since enlisting in the coast guard I haven't fished a single one. Any info would be much appreciated.

I stepped out for a half hour after dinner to my neighborhood canal, and I came across this feisty guy....

Another canal peacock bass

I have caught more of these guys than bass this past week.

It's been a while since I caught a good one.  Bitters vibe strikes again.

Finally caught my first decent LMB in Florida. Was fishing in quantum lakes area. Caught about a dozen fish ranging from 1-3.25lbs. Partner today lost a monster of a fish that he couldn't move on a 7'6 heavy action rod with 50lbs braid. I'm guessing at least 7+. Stayed heavy on the bottom and then wrapped itself around the Lillie's and was gone after about. 2-3 minute fight. Wish I could have seen the fish to be sure of its size but will defiantly be returning to same lake to try a few more strategies I've read on this forum. Huge change of pace after fishing California waters for 2 years and New Jersey for 25+ years. Oddly Nj and Florida tactics are closer related then Cali and Florida even though the same strain of bass. Now if I can only find some of these d**n peacocks I would be super happy. Great info I've read and some super nice fish all you guys have been catching.

Peacocks can be addictive, I've been leaving the opportunity of 20# fish to go catch them.  It's all about the strike, they give a decent fight and it's fun on real light tackle.

Thanks PZ3, I have been extremely lucky to meet and fish with 4 BR Florida members, and I can proudly call them my friends. It was an absolute joy to show MCS the ropes and teach him how to fish our waters. From what MCS described to me its a night and day difference. I had blast MCS, til next year.

Hmmmmm still waiting on an invite ;)

Haven't fished in a couple weeks. I'm going crazy. Us South Florida guys need to get together.

I've been reading but not doing any posting lately.  Loving this bass resource.  Must say thanks to all you guys and gals.

I've been mainly fishing my neighborhood pond the last months and its been pretty awesome.  Got my new PB @ 7.9lbs (on a Senko, green pumpkin with chart tail).  And for some reason the peacocks are tearing up topwater walkers at sundown (heddon spook jr and the live target walking frog).  Been a lot of fun lately.

My PB #2, 7.9lbs

Hit West Toho today with BBD. Have to say it was a rough day of fishing. Seemed the onlything I could get to work was a Paka Craw as a top water bait.

Them cleaning up brush in the lake made it real muddy and the heat didnt seem to help.

So if anyone was out and seen some guy completely failing at putting a boat on a trailer. That was me lol.

I caught a few of these Thursday, I then saw some monsters.  There was a fellow fishing for them so I just watched, I then re rigged his set up and gave him one of my home tied jigs.  Sorry to say they didn't cooperate, I was hoping to see this person catch a real nice fish.

What's up fellas? Well I've been fishing here in south florida since I was a little kid (my dad use to tie a nut on my line and pack it with bread so I could see the fish attacking it lol) now I'm 25 and still fishing these lakes. I'm currently in weston (broward county) and we have some nice size bass here in these lakes. I'm close to the glades and these canals/lakes all connect to eachother. I fish these lakes alot! There's a ton of these annoying Mayan cichlids in these canals and lakes lol. I've caught a few gar and a turtle lol. Overall if I go out in the morning around 730-830 I can easily catch 6-10 bass and some of them weighing up to 5lbs. Well closest one was 4.62lbs but on the average there about 2lbs+. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to being a part of this community. Also, any tourneys please let me know .

Welcome Jamores23, there are several new guys from Weston, Pines, and Davie who are recent newcomers on to this site. Its nice to see so many young local bass anglers joining up. See you around.

For the southeast section of the site FL seems to have the most newcomers. I like it!
