swagkid300 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 sorry i don't know if this is where i post this but... We have a smallmouth bass sub forum, why don't we have one for peacock bass / largemouth etc?? Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 Striped bass would be nice too. Make SirSnook happy and set one up for Sea Bass! 1 Quote
S_Miketa6 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Well seems that everything is for mainly freshwater and most topics are based around largemouth/smallies/spots, usually the main discussion points. Also probably why they created an Other Species Forum. Quote
BassnChris Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Striped bass would be nice too. Make SirSnook happy and set one up for Sea Bass! That's Mr. Sea Bass to you. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 For the most part BASS = largemouth, smallmouth and Kentucky bass (spots). We have a seperate section for smallmouth "just because". Actually fishing for smallmouth can be quite a bit different than largies and a big part of the country doesn't have the species. Stripers and peacocks are "Other Fish". 1 Quote

What about: White Bass Hybrid Bass Ibanez Bass Chilean Sea Bass Antarctic Bass European Bass Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 And Bass guitars, and emBASSies, and amBASSadors, and suBASSemblies, and BASSoons, and ... 4 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 Peacock, striped, white, and sea bass are not bass. "True" bass are actually sunfish. When people say "bass fishing", they mean "true" bass that are in the sunfish family. Kind of like a Koala Bear isn't actually a bear even though it has bear in its name. It is actually a marsupial. You cant lump striped and peacock bass in with bass fishing because its not bass fishing. 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 Marsupial? Gotta admit, I scrambled to google that one. Quote

Is believe a large mouth and spotted bass are both scientifically referee to as black bass. Quote

Smallmouth are considered black bass as well. Black bass and true bass are one and the same. Black bass are: LM, SM, Spotted, Redeye, Shoal and all of their sub-species and they are all members of the sunfish family with bluegill, pumpkinseed etc. 1 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 Marsupial? Gotta admit, I scrambled to google that one. Most people are very unconvinced when I tell them this. Google is great isn't it? It can validate or disprove any claim in a matter of seconds. Quote

Dyerbassman Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Wow...cabin fever? Let's go fishing!!!!! Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 12, 2014 Super User Posted March 12, 2014 Striped bass would be nice too. Make SirSnook happy and set one up for Sea Bass! It's snook not sea bass, but no one is really interested in "other species". The one good thing about fishing for snook and peacocks, we do it 12 months of year, but they don't fight too hard so you ain't missing much waiting for the ice to thaw. 1 Quote
