FlipnLimits Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Too busy making TS rods. Lol, couldn't resist. FL Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 That's the new Fuji side wrap concept. Supposed to add 10 yards and more accuracy to sidearm casts. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 11, 2014 Global Moderator Posted March 11, 2014 Ever see the guides on the Rage rods when they first came out? I'm pretty sure I could get them straighter than those guides were with no previous rod building experience. That's the kind of thing that makes me worry about buying rods before I get to see them. What model rod was it? Quote
Super User tomustang Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 That's funnier than seeing the h2o ethos rods missing two guides in a row! Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 I'd say that's either St. Croix version of the Gary Loomis spiral wrap guides or someone was daydreaming of warmer weather while they were making it. Quote
Hooked_On_Bass Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I wonder how that bad boy made it out of the factory looking like that? Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 The guides are lined up with each other so some one probably sighted down it and said good'nuff. From building rods I can see how it can happen, but shouldn't have made it out the door. Quote
TiNuts Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 Ever see the guides on the Rage rods when they first came out? I'm pretty sure I could get them straighter than those guides were with no previous rod building experience. That's the kind of thing that makes me worry about buying rods before I get to see them. I looked at the Rage's today quite a bit and holy hell the guides aren't even close to being lined up. I'm pretty sure you could line them up better drunk with no previous experience. I've never seen guides so misaligned. Even on cheap ass throw away rods. I was quite disappointed as I really liked the rods otherwise. I ended up buying an Avid, with straight guides. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 I repaired a Loomis Steelhead rod for someone that picked it up at the Bargain Cave at Cabelas. The stripper guide was 45° off of the reelseat and the rest of the guides. This one isn't as noticible as one guide way out of whack. Quote
TrippyJai Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I saw the same thing a few years back at BPS. Also on a St. Croix Avid, must've been the same person LOL. I'm not sure if he reel seat was broken though. Didn't care too much about it and put it back down. Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 Na man its supposed to be like that, haven't you heard of that new Japanese technique of sidebaiting? Ok this right here had me DYING hahaha Quote

Super User deaknh03 Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 Imagine the guy that buys it without checking it thoroughly. talk about aggravated after he puts a reel on it. Quote
mnbassman23 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Na man its supposed to be like that, haven't you heard of that new Japanese technique of sidebaiting? Next thing you knows that will be the new technique that wins the Classic. Those rods will sell like hot cakes. Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Thats for casting "gangsta" style. Y'all don't cast that way? Accuracy is horrible, but it looks cool. Quote
