DBL000006 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I'm looking for a Reel in the 100 dollar range. I'm looking at a, Lews Reel or a, Abu Garcia Orra SX Reel. Which one would you guys get? I know i could get the a Pro Qualifier, but with shipping i'd rather have the other 2 opinions Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted March 10, 2014 Super User Posted March 10, 2014 I love my lews but its a tournament, not the regular 100 dollar one. Curados are on swle for 99 at bps. Havent fished the orra 2 only held in store and it felt freat. Cant go wrong with either 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 10, 2014 Super User Posted March 10, 2014 Either should be fine, but if you can get a Curado for $100, then that is the way to go. Quote
motodmast Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 lews speed spool $99.99 best reel you can buy at that price and a lot of people will tell you that Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 10, 2014 Super User Posted March 10, 2014 Curado G for $90 -$100 is a no brainer. Quote
B@ssCrzy Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Curado G for $90 -$100 is a no brainer. x2 Quote
smr913 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 You can find Daiwa Tatulas on Ebay for $100. I am loving mine so far. 2 Quote
HPfishin Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 if you find a curado for around the 100 dollar mark you had better jump on it Quote

ClackerBuzz Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 i had a lefty Curado for a minute. sold it immediately b/c it had a notch sticking out on the side of the brakes. it dug into my palm so much that it only took two outing for me to sell it. horrible design. not sure what the heck happened there. i think they eliminated it the next year. the shimano guys can probably tell you which past year to avoid getting it. you can see it on the bottom right of the left reel. mjseverson24 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 At the 100 dollar range for lews I would look online for the tournament MG, The new orra is nice except it is mag breaks only, which is not too bad, but for like 65.00 on an auction site you can get the previous model daiwa exceler which has the mag -z breaking. JaxBasser Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Lews Speed Spool for $75 from an ebay store, spend $25 on more tackle. Quote
jbw252 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Before you commit, check with Ron from Valley Sports & More (he's a sponsor here at BR). You won't be disapppointed - great service & prices. ( and great advice from a great guy) Quote
Smokinal Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Lews or the Curado, either is a good quality reel. If you can mount them both and feel em, I'd do that first. You may find something in one or the other that isn't right for you. Quote
DBL000006 Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 The Curodos are discontinued. I don't think i want a reel that's discontinued. I'll keep doing the Reel search. I really haven't decided yet. Quote
MemphisFF Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 The Curodos are discontinued. I don't think i want a reel that's discontinued. I'll keep doing the Reel search. I really haven't decided yet. A lot of reels get discontinued I got an E series and it's discontinued I would buy more if they weren't I don't understand that logic, not trying to be a jerk about it. Quote
Smokinal Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 That Curado has such a name, there will always be parts and service available for it. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 The daiwa t3 ballistic is on sale for 109 right now. Easily the best option 2 Quote
masterbass Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Daiwa t-3 ballistic at tackle warehouse for 109 ($250 reel) is great deal. I jumped on the 8.1:1 lefty. You could find lews tournament mg for around $100. 1 Quote
Mckinney24v Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Another vote for the T3 ballistic on sale right now. $109.88 is a steal for it. 1 Quote
Salamander12 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 It's discontinued for a reason Please explain. I'm interested in getting a curado for $100. Maybe there's a reason I shouldn't? Quote
Bk4 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Twh have the daiwa t3 ballistic on sale for 109.88 worth the money in my opinion because regular price was 249.95 - 269-95 Quote
Super User tomustang Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 It's discontinued for a reason Why is that? Do you sell everything you have when they eventually get discontinued too? Quote
