Mikell Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Im looking at this rig to possibly purchase. Can anyone give me some input on this setup or the reel/rod individually? its a 7' medium action Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 10, 2014 Super User Posted March 10, 2014 I fished that rod for many years. It's a very versatile stick. I had the older first generation, full grip version. About the only things that I didn't, at one time or another, do with it was punch mats or deep crank. I once threw frogs with it in sparse cover and it worked great, even though it's a M power, it's a St Croix, so it's pretty stout for a medium. Quote
Mikell Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 thanks for the input thats kind of been the same review over the net i just wanted some personal experience info ya know sounds like i may be getting this one for sure! Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted March 10, 2014 Super User Posted March 10, 2014 the teaser is probably the most versatile rod made. you can do just about anything with it except for, as stated above, heavy stuff. jump on it. it's a great rod. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted March 11, 2014 Super User Posted March 11, 2014 The summit is high speed. I have one and used to use it for froggies. If thats your plan, make sure that rod is ok for that. Quote
Koofy Smacker Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I use mine for a lot of stuff (newer split grip, not the newest line but the one before that). It can handle a lot, but I particularly like it for throwing lighter jigs and even heavier jigs when I am just dragging it. It's sensitivity is very very good and can detect slight bites. Light solid and hollowbody swimbaits, lipless cranks, squarebills and medium divers, top waters and worm fishing are just a few of the things I can do with it and it does it well. It has a great tip to it but a very solid backbone which really helps in keeping the fish hooked. For reference I have it paired with a Curado 200E7 with 12lb fluoro Quote
Mikell Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 thanks im going to pick it up today! most of what i fish is soft plastics with the occasional action bait spinner frog or top water popper i think this will do very nicely! ive got a shimano caenan reel that i can put on this rod also if the pflueger doesnt seem to fit the needs hah Quote
Mikell Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 I purchased the rod and reel and it looks good its a used rod but in great shape jus some small scuffs closer to the main backbone section the reel is the same just some scuffs on the bottom. I got the set for 200 bucks, im thinking it was a decent deal! Any comments on it? Quote
