Taking a rod to trade in at BPS tomorrow with my gift cars, so please only suggest what I can get at Bass Pro...getting a rod for my 50 lb braid 7.1 reel that I pitch / flip and frog with...I don't fish heavy pads...looking for under $100, Vendetta?  Veritas?  7'3"?  7'4"?

Thanks

I am actually in the exact same boat you are in.  Looking for the exact same thing. I am thinking I will go with the Veritas.  Probably the 7' MH Fast action.  I have a veritas and Vendetta and prefer the Veritas much more.

Honestly, A veritas is going to be crazy stiff so unless you are fishing THE heaviest vegetation out there, go to maybe a MH.  I had a 7ft heavy veritas and it barely had a bend in the tip with a 1oz jig on the end.  Same with the Mojo frog rod by St. Croix,  It is basically a broom handle.  My suggestions would be

1.   MH Veritas in 7ft as it will allow you to walk the dog better than a 7'3 especially in sparse vegetation.

2.  Spinnerbait mojo rod as it is rated a MH and is a much better option in that it is lighter but plently powerful.

3.  Carbonlite 7ft Heavy.

I use my 7'3" MH Vendetta for pitching, it has a little more "spring" to the tip, and I use a 7' MH Veritas for frogging, it's a little bit stouter. If I had to chose one of them to do both it would be the 7'3" MH Vendetta. I held both the 7'3" MH Vendetta's and Veritas's in my hands before I pulled the trigger, the Veritas is/was too stiff for my tastes in that power/length.

I can't speak on the Vendetta or Veritas but i can on the carbonlites and what Grantman said would be good 7Heavy. You might be able to get the JM series under 100 if you trade in. I might be wrong but i believe they have little better guides on them.

I think either the veritas or the vendetta would be good options, I would stick with the MH though as well.

I don't think the Veritas will disappoint you. I own a 7'MH - started out with a 7' H and that thing was almost a broomstick. FYI - I've found the lure weight ratings on the Veritas to be a little skewed as well. To load my 7' MH with a 1/4oz jig + trailer (usually a RageCraw), I've really gotta be whipping that puppy around. To it's credit, there is plenty of bounce in the tip when you need it - it pitches really well. Good luck with your decision tomorrow!

I have used my MH/F 7'3" Veritas for jigs and frogs.  That is what I would recommend.

I would get the Duckett 7'3" Heavy Ghost rod. The rod its self is better than the Veritas but the problem with the ghost rod is the line guides. I'm not very happy with the line guides they choose. They are ok and will fish just fine, I just wish they would have put better line guides on the Ghost rods, I would still get it over the Abu though because rod to rod it is better for $100.

JM Signature Series II with K guides.

$139.00 rod for $90.00 with trade in.

Last Sat I picked up, Two BC- Med and MH and One Spin Med. All 6'-8"

I may be going back today to get one or two more. Thinking of a BC- 7'-2"MH and a Spin- 6'-8" MH. Not sure just yet.
