brandonss Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I was wondering how pline cxx is in sensitivity thinking of picking some up for jig rod an t rig rod or go back to Berkeley 100% fluro Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted March 9, 2014 Super User Posted March 9, 2014 I like CXX for some techniques but I never found it to be terribly sensitive. I go to fluoro or braid when I want sensitivity. I fish jigs on fluoro. Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I tried it with jigs, might as well have used elastic. I switched to InvisX Quote
ClackerBuzz Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 it's fine to use as a 8ft leader w/ braid as ur main line. Quote
Tartan34 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I throw it on my A-Rigs, and it is ideal. I've had zero complaints. Quote
War Eagle 44 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I'm a big fan of CXX, I've used it for just about any technique imaginable. It's my "go to" line on any rod I don't use braid on. I will say though that I don't think it's going to be quite as sensitive as fluoro. However I'd bet money that it doesn't stretch any more than fluoro, that's one of the biggest upsides to this line, low stretch. If the rod you plan on spooling this on is a dedicated jig rod then I'd go back to fluoro. Fluoro is more sensitive than copoly due to it's density not because it has less stretch. If you think I'm full of it just look at Tackle Tour's fluoro shootout from a few years back, it's very enlightening. 1 Quote
The Next KVD Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 CXX is probably one of the more sensitive copolys that I have used in my opinion. The line rating on it is completely off however, 20lb is more like 25lb and 15lb is more like 20lb. I flip and pitch my jigs and softplastics with this and I have yet to break 15lb line. I've had it not even break on a straight pull with my 101 MK on 100%. Does not have much stretch to it and I have no complaints about the sensitivity. However, I'm also fishing it on a St.Croix Legend Elite which helps the sensitivity department. However, I will probably be switching to fluoro once I use up the rest of my 600 yard spool. Quote
1234567 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 For me Pline CXX is not the most sensitive, but it is TOUGH! Most hate it but it is exactly what I need for when I'm out. It is thicker than most other brands in the same line test, and after a few days of not fishing when I cast it out it looks like a 60 foot slinky! Other than that, I have never had it fail on me. After a few minutes the coils work themselves out. I believe a lot of bad experiences with this line come from people using it on spinning reels, I know I probably wouldn't like it if I were doing the same. Like WarEagle, if Im not using braid, I am using Pline CXX. Quote
donk Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I am a fan of CXX . I use 10lb. on baitcasters and 6 on spinning. I have noticed the coiling ,especially in cold weather, but it kinda straightens itself out as the day goes on. I like fluoro as well for clear water, but I have considered buying the 3000 yrd spools of CXX for most applications.. I was really surprised by the cost savings between the 300 yrd spools of CXX and buying the 3000 yrd spool. Not to mention I wouldn't need to purchase line for quite some time ! Quote
