I have thrown senkos more than anything, wacky rigged.  Again, a few tosses out, slow fall, twitch here and there and never had any hits.  like i mentioned, i could very well be throwing it at a spot where there are ZERO fish.  that would NOT surprise me!!

That would be my guess personally.  Maybe try T-rigging it instead and "darting" it across a larger area.  Sometimes Wacky just doesn't get the job done for me simply because I can only cover so much area effectively with it.  That said, Senkos and Slug-gos are probably the most universally effective baits of all time.  If you aren't catching ANY fish, there may not be any fish where you are.

Also what other baits do you use that DO work?  I'm really curious!

my go to lures are either lipless cranks or crank baits. one way or another I can catch something with one of them. (with an occassional spinner as well)

top waters are not my friends either.

(i probably just opened a whole new can of worms on that last comment)

i will definitely try drop shotting this year.........its got to work, but everyone said the same thing about t-rigging plastics  :cry4:

I'm a cranker too.  I also have not caught a thing on senkos.  I think once you become a crankbait guy you develop a patience problem.  Before I got into cranks I used to throw a texas rigged ribbon tail worm a lot and it is still one of my confidence soft plastics.

I don't know about OP but I'm content to crank and keep my plastics on the back of jigs.

dragging?  uh, no.  normally I will swim it through the water slowly allowing the flappers and what not to flap.  couple casts, and if no results i will either change up the plastic to another or go back to my loved crankbait.  i usually throw the plastics with an EWG, do not recall the size.

Try slowly dragging it and as others have said, use a high visibility line like Power Pro Hi Vis Yellow. What kind of rod do you have?

i just bought the rod a couple weeks ago, i will get the specs on it tonight when i get home.  i have yet to use it, but it is paired with an AG Orra S spinning reel

The biggest mistake most anglers make when learning to fish plastics is, they fish to fast!

30 min is not enough time for any bait!

You're an example of why we teach, "don't take anything else", fish all day with 1-2 plastics techniques.

Once you put a couple bass in the livewell it'll all start to click.

^^This^^

If you want to become better with something, say soft plastics, then you need to dedicate the time to learn them. Take one or two days, and just fish plastics. Leave everything else at home. This will force you to learn plastic technique's, as you won't be able to switch right back to old faithful when you aren't catching anything. There is no doubt in my mind that this will make you a better plastic fisherman and you WILL catch fish. Trust me, it worked for me and jigs.

Are you dissatisfied with your cranking performance?  If not, then if it ain't broken don't fix it rings true.  If you can crush em cranking and make everybody else throwing jigs and plastics green with ***, then count yourself as lucky.

If you really want to learn soft plastics, I'd recommend starting small, casting to cover water (to have some simlarty to crankbaits) and moving on from there.  Once you get a few fish under your belt your confidence, and enthusiasm. should soar.

I'd recommend fishing small 2'' cranks to anybody coming from the opposite background looking to get into cranks for the same reason.  Start with easy-to-eat small baits and gain confidence 1st.  Confidence goes a long way and you seem to have a lack of it when going outside your comfort zone.
