I have a line on a abu stx for $70 that I think would be great on my Veritas as my all around rod.  I also have a Cumara paired w a citica G6 that I want to use as a jig and worm rod.  Both reels are 6:4:1 and was wondering if I'd be better off purchasing a higher speed reel for my jig and worm rod. In other words should I buy another 6:4:1 or is that just redundant?

I personally dont worry about it that much. especially when its that good of a deal. Im assuming its a gen 3 STX? in the gen3 its only 3" per turn.

Says 100% mech but no way to tell until it's in my hands and my money is in theirs

He claims 6:4:1

For that price if in good shape I would grab it. It's a minimal difference in IPT in comparison to the savings on buying new.

I would get a higher speed reel myself, but if you like the 6:1 there is nothing wrong with it. I just like a faster pickup rate for jigs and t-rigs...

Make that 26" per turn.

It'll be fine for jigs. If it were a 5 I'd say no.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. As already mentioned, if reel is in good shape, it will serve you well for all techniques on the water. If I specifically was interested in crankin big deep divers, a low speed crankin reel might be the best choice. But for an all around, all techniques, you'll be fine.

All I use is 5.8:1, never had a problem with any technique!
