I know there is alot of wally world threads, but mine usually sucks. Most of yall get the dead of winter cabin fever on your buying habits. I get spring fever and when the first couple warm days hit, then I get the buying fever. So i finally go back to the fishing isle. man picked up a 25.00 micro buco. they have the new Gary yamamoto hard baits, new rattle traps, all rapalas for like 3 bucks, new kvd isle with all his stuff. the new strike king chatterbaits that I cant find no where except TW. lots of goodies.

OK... on my buco, it is the M 1/4-1/2 oz moderate action, would it be a good Jerk bait rod. atm I am using a 6 ft pistol grip rod for them. I like it but from shore Id like more distance that accuracy. Would you use that rod. I know alot of yall do 6'6-6'9 but still

I don't have a clue, you didn't say what length your new rod was.

sounds like it could be a good jerkbait rod....... even if it is 7 foot (you didnt list lenght)

you want a good soft tip for jerkbaits, so to just make the bait slash and dart , not to really move it forward. thats IMO, I am sure the jerkbait gurus will correct me if I am wrong, as there are some AWESOME jerkbaiters here on the board

oh sorry it is a 7 ft, my 6' pistal grip is a MHXF and seems stiff to me, were the jerks i use, rouge, kvds, some rapala slash baits. give the 7MM a slight bind in rod were I can sling them further, havent had time to get them to the lake yet

I have a micro Bucoo that is 7' and just labeled "medium action."  I don't know if it's the same rod you have but it makes a great jerkbait rod.

exactly the same rod, thanks :)

How moderate is the action? I was thinking about picking one up for cranks since I prefer graphite rods over glass.

I wouldnt pay a bill for it, but I am no pro at judging. I love it for jerks though, still havent  hit the lake, but I took the hooks off a old school husky jerk and have be casting it all over yard..neighbors think I am an idiot. :) when I get caught on a grass clot, it loads up pretty nice, lmao.... I pray to get it on the water this weekend

Sounds like your Wally World got some great stuff in and some great stuff on clearance! The Walmart in my town is pretty good, they've got jitterbugs and hulu poppers on clearance for $3, and KVD 2x1x trebles for $5.00. They also have Skeet Reese Jig/Worm and Spinnerbait/Worm on clearance for $69.00 and the 7' Skeet Reese Crankbait Glass rod for $79.00.

So was the Bucoo nly $25.00? or was the 25.00 referring to something else?

They have the exact same rod at my local Walmart and its $99.00, well a week ago when i price checked it. I had the same thought, looks like a nice jerkbait rod for jerkbaits 1/4 to 1/2 oz.

yea, all there spinning bucoos had 99.00 sticker then another sticker that said 25, they only had 1 casting that didnt have a broken tip, so I took a 25 sticker and put on the casting beside the 99.00 and when I went to pay i told her they had the same rods for 25 but this one didnt have a sticker so I put one on, i volunteered to go back and get the other rod to show her. it was 10:30 on  a packed Saturday night and she said the price was fine. I went back today to pick up some more shad wraps and all the junipter and bucoos were 25.00 so go figure lol

That Falcon BuCoo is probably the BCC 4-17, it is one very popular crankbait rod, I actually like them as I used a friends rod, I was very close to buying one and if I saw that for $25 I'd be on it. Anyway, there are 2 types of jerkbait guys out there, the first is the anglers who like shorter, fast action rods for more control working the bait, and then there are the longer, softer action rod guys who treat jerkbaits more like a cranking application. I'm in the first category, I want to be able to get the bait down and work it with a very subtle movement sometimes, and others I want to really work the bait and make it dart and dash, that second way is very hard to do with a crankbait style rod because the tip recovery will slow you a bit. For me, that rod is too soft for jerkbaits, even from shore, it is very moderate but it would be fantastic to use for #7 shad raps and DT 6 baits but in the early spring when you want to work the bait slow you can make it work, it is less than ideal but you can use it, good luck and congrats on the great buy.
