They are just one of the "weapons" in my "arsenal". But I will admit they are one of a few go-to baits.

I will also say that over the last 5 years or so I have really learned a lot about how to fish them efficiently. If you are just fishing them by casting them out wacky and letting them soak then you really don't know how to "fish" a senko! :)

Exactly my experience. A Senko or knock-off is one of the most versatile baits in my arsenal. Just one example: Depending on the weight, a wacky rigged Senko can be worked quickly at a variety of depths. I'm glad everyone does not use them; makes the fish more likely to bite mine. ;)

Boring, not consistent big fish baits, lots of gut hooking.

I use them when I absolutely have to. But if ANYTHING else will work, I will use that instead.

Gut hooking...Yep Bizz you hit the nail on the head. Ive gut hooked a good share of fish on a Soft stickbait myself. Seems the fish hit it on the fall, and absolutely engulf it before they start moving. By then its too late. Happens alot when your deadsticking the bait while picking out a backlash too.

I hate them because guys discard them in the lake after they rip. Then you have hundreds and hundreds of bloated white turds on the bottom by July.  ::)

I heard that if people keep bashing senko's, Gary is going to stop making them. (we all have feelings)

I don't hate the bait for this, I hate the litter bugs that toss them into the lake.  It's not uncommon for fish to spit up these discarded gray turds during the fight.

I wonder how many bass get poisoned by Senko-style baits that end up on the bottom of the lake, either by negligent anglers or when they accidentally tear off?

That would be fine with me. All of the Senko-type baits could disappear tomorrow and it wouldn't bother me at all.

Senko's are pretty amazing...they always seem to catch fish for me.  They certainly have negatives though; Gut hooks, and quite expensive.  I love them though...I can sit in one spot for 1/2 an hour and just barely move them (I'm quite patient) so they're perfect for me.  Of course, chigger craws are pretty good too...
