Just got back from BPS and taking advantage of the rod trade in. I'm now the proud owner of a 6'10" mh/f and the 7'1" mh/xf. The 610 will be used for swimjigs and the 701 will be for jigs/t-rigs. These will be paired with a tatula and zillion respectively.

I just got the 7' M and I'm really impressed with mine, too. It's very light,, and the finish is great. I'm putting an Alphas Ito 103L on mine. I'm excited to throw some rattle traps!

I checked these out in store friday and they caught my intrest forsure, seem very well made. I look foward to hearing some comparisons against other rods as far as sensitivity, balance and weight goes.

They come up from time to time, and I just happened to have the cash when it popped up in the garage sale forum last weekend.

Here you go.

My ito is on a Daiwa Zilliom MXF.  That is the first picture I have seen of the Tatula rods.  (Haven't researched them yet.)  That combo looks SWEEEEEEEET.  Been wanting to get a Tatula reel and figured a Tatula rod at the same time would be nice.  After seeing your combo, I think the Tatula reel will have to go on a different rod so I can put my ito on a Tatula rod.  I think the 7' M was an excellent choice for the itp.

They're great-looking rods, to be sure. I didn't see any at the Hampton, VA BPS. Don't think they carry them there (yet). Ended up going with 2 Carbonlites, a spinning a casting. So far absolutely love the rods. I'm sure I'd love the Tat as well. But at this point, I like the CLs better than any of my St. Croix rods, including an Avid.

Will have to see how the year fishes out with these rods. But the Tats are definitely on the awesome looking list. Can't wait to get my hands on one in-store, if our BPS ever carries them.

5fishlimit, I'd love to see a picture of that combo! Also Doyle, what reel did you pair yours with?

I have a Lews Tournament Pro high speed on it. GREAT combo !

Nice rods...

What camera and lens did you use for this picture?   It is a very sharp pic.  Well done.

I thought the rod had a lot of blue in it until Goose posted his pic.  Guess your carpet is reflecting off the rod.  It is a visually pleasing picture,  just not a true to life color rendition.  I think we should start a campaign to get Daiwa to make the Tat rods a dark blue....but not too dark.  :teeth:

It's practically an antique - an 11 year-old Sony with a max res of 5 meg. This shot was taken on the 1.2 meg setting AND macro focus enabled.

Goose that 77mr still treating you good? I am looking to get it for lipless, shallow to med cranks and maybe some lighter spinnerbaits like 3/8oz

It's a nice combo - I got it for open water lipless cranks. It was a winter purchase and I don't have much time on the water with it yet...

I think a combination of the flash and the green material of my couch gave the rod a blueish hue. It's black, gray, and gold accents.

After having a chance to play around with it last night (pitching a practice plug into the snow) I would say that it's as light as a Duckett rod, and as sensitive as my g.loomis GL2.

I know this is subjective, and may not mean much of an explanation to anyone that hasn't handled the rods I mentioned. Just trying to give a comparison against what I own.

I got a few hours on the water with this rod, and I am very happy with it. I got a chunky smallmouth, and a walleye.

I'm really surprised by the overall quality, feel, and action on this rod.

I am definitely going to get another - perhaps the frogging rod. If anyone has been on the fence about this rod you shouldn't be.

Buy it, and enjoy. I think you get more rod than you pay for.

I have the 6'10" MH-F. Fit and finish are top shelf. I've only done some backyard casting so far, so I have no conclusions about how well it actually fishes. I did not get a weight. Dead batteries in my scale, but it seems to be under 4 ounces. I'll get an accurate weight, and post it in this thread.

It may be just a bit under-rated. Flex testing, with a scale, seem to indicate that it's a bit more powerful than most MH power rods. The fast rating for the action seems about right on the money. The rod casts a 3/8oz practice plug nicely. It loads just OK with a 1/4oz plug. That would be the lower limit for this stick. I haven't tested the upper end of the bait weight range.

I tried it with an Alphas, a TD-Z, a Fuego, and a Zillion. The Z and the Alphas both made a really light weight combo. I'll probably end up with a Zillion on this rod. I use the Z and all of my Alphas for light weight baits, with light line. This is not the rod for that purpose. If it performs the way I think it might, this will be my primary T-rig rod; Zillion, 14-17 line and 3/8oz and up.

First impressions are; this rod can go head-to-head with a St Croix Avid, and maybe with the LTB series. Pretty good for a $150 stick.

I'll have more of them before the year is out.

I like your way of thinking.  I do the same thing.  Most have 8# mono, but 3 that I use for 1/4 oz. and under get 6# mono.  MH rods usually get 12# mono.

I'm not quite as light weight as you. My Alphas are spooled with #10, and are mounted on my lightest power rods. The Zillions are spooled with #14, and are on my heaviest power rods. My Fuegos are spooled with #12, and are on the rest of the rods. Keeps me somewhat organized.

Ghoti you should let me buy one of those fuegos!!

My Fuegos all have Carbontex drags, stainless ABEC 7 spool bearings, four bearing TD-Z handles and a full internal polishing job. Actually, all of my reels except one have the same mods.

Once I've tuned up a reel, I just can't seem to sell it.
