Im alittle,tight on money and was wondering if anybody has used a okuma startamaster sm 20d or the startamaster 150a. Good or,bad ?

I've never owned an Okuma reel but if you're looking for a decent reel and you have a tight budget, you might check out the Shimano Cardiff 300. That's a nice reel that's not too big and not too small...casts well. If you aren't throwing heavy baits, say more than 2 oz, you can probably do well with a standard sized baitcaster.

x2!  I have been researching reels for swimbaiting all winter.  The cardiff has been the most suggested by far anywhere for beginning the technique.  

 

On another note.  I just now noticed Grizzin that you purchased the Mojo.  It will suit you well.  The Extreme you picked up was a traveling model.  That is why it telescoped.  They do have a one piece 7'10".  So if you don't like the Mojo give the Extreme another chance.

Right now I'm using a 7 ball bearing Calcutta to throw swim baits with and it works ok.  For the areas I throw swim baits in, an ounce and a half is heavy.  In my neighborhood, I don't have much confidence in the really big swim baits.

Well im at bass pro shop doing the reel trade in. They have the lexa 100 for 104. With 20 dollars off. Think im going to,throw braid,on to get more line on it. Wont be throwing huge baits around 3 oz

Yeah i,diny known it was a teloscope rod. Walk ou5 of the store and thought i broke it haha. My freind has a mojo swimbait rod and he loves. I have 4 mojos now and love them. Ill get a cwrdiff when my taxes come back. Just got a steal for a lexa at 72.00 dollars. If i i dont use this for swim baits it will find a rod to be put on

The Cardiff 300 series is a bullet proof swimbait reel. You can upgrade the bearings to 5's when you get it serviced. Several big name swimbait anglers out west use this reel.

I have 4 reels I've used for "big baits" an abu 5500 round reel. a shimano cardiff an okuma citrix 364 and a abu c3 round reel the cardiff is good for hudds and slow moving baits. best bang for your buck. the okuma citrix is nice too i have only had it for about 3 months. But for the price and itsnot given me problems yet. i fish triple trouts punkers wake jrs and other baits i fish faster
