So many people bash ducketts saying they suck or there ugly.. but how many people have actually truly tested a duckett.
So my question is do people really hate them,
Or are they just riding with the bandwagon?

I wouldn't fish with much less buy anything duckett has his name on. I'd rather put Obama stickers on my truck jeep and boat.

Cant see why people don't like them.......I must of missed the memo!

Most people who bash something have never actually used that something. This is the internet after all. I am sure I would think a lot of guys here are married to ugly chicks, but since I don't know them personally, I shouldn't talk smack about them.

Duckett rods don't have any special proprietary blanks that he designed or created, so basically you have quite a lot of different brands of rods that are going to be very similar in performance, components and price. So people are usually going to buy what they think looks best.

I feel like I've mostly heard good things about them...White isn't really my color, but I know a lot of people out there like it. I'm mostly interested to see how long this thread stays open

I seen in the newest Bassmaster mag, on the 10-minute angler page, he now has a baitcaster.  Interesting.  Anyways.  I have looked into getting some of his rods.  Based on the reviews I found, I lost interest.  I decided to not purchase one.  But that was before I became a member here.  A lot of guys on here like the rods.  I am not in the market for any rods at the present time.

On another note.  Bobby Lane is tough as hell on these rods on  MLF.  He's broken a couple.  One over his knee when he didn't make the cut and the other was a spincast that broke when he casted.  I broke rite at the reel seat.

I don't understand the hate but it was solid reviews is what got me to try them and now I own 4. Out of all the rods I currently own and have owned they are my favs. Will be adding a JB rod and a crankin ghost rod soon.

It was hard to get me to try a white rod always just liked black rods.

I've had one broken rod and it was painless. Just mailed in a $15 check and cut a chunk of the rod off with the logo and boom new rod to my door in no time, and no questions asked no warranty card to fill out no hunting for receipts.

After that made me love my ducketts even more.

I'm not some huge Boyd Duckett fan I can take him or leave him but I do enjoy his rods.

I'm sure they are fine rods just like most in the market. Honestly, it's rare that you get a CARROT STIX level of hatred going for a certain rod line. I handled some and they were light as heck but I just didn't want the super micro guides.

Every company has it's detractors. My only gripe is they don't have actions etc put on the rod.

Lots of people around here like them really well.  I picked up one of their new ghost rods, and while light, the guids are terrible.  I'm not a micro guide fisher.

Castaway's new rods are what impress me most.

someone pm, I want to know what duckett did. though I read the new BM review on Dean Rohjas praising the duckett rod, ironically the day before I was on youtube watching him push his quantum specialty rod swearing on quantum, I though that was funny a bit

the rods that bobby lane broke on MLF during the summit cup were abu veritas, not ducketts. but, i too won't fish any duckett products...the way he broke his sponsorship with E21 to start his own rod company was shameful. i loved the episode of MLF when KVD got ticked at boyd duckett for following him around the lake: [shaking his head] "that's not the way i would do it".

I see Timmy Horton uses the Duckett White Ice series baitcast rods with of course Lew's reels ...Not sure of the rod quality but Timmy seems to like them well enough !

Whats the inside story on Duckett and e21? Were all friends here post it for public knowledge, or PM me if you have too.

My understanding was Duckett didnt like that e21 rods were not up to his specs, the constant breakage issues we all heard about, and e21 terrible warranty process.

I can't blame him for leaving, its like "hey look you wanted my input on rods if your not gonna listen why am i here."

Now i  wasnt behind the scenes or anything, thats just what i have gathered over my time researching rods.

@21farms LOL i was rolling when that happened, and KVD at some point said "I dont know what every one else's problem is its not that hard." lol

Oh I could guess that easily.  Duckett rod commercials every time you turn around and an official sponsor.

He does but I bet eventually he goes the way Bill and Hank did.  A fishing show and sponsorships.  He has a big part in the Profound Outdoor line of baits and website.

Honest mistake.  I forgot that Bobby was sponsored by Abu and the Veritas was white! :wink2:
