Well, I just received my first ML Bluegill today. Looks great and I can't wait to try it.  8-)

I just got done searching thru 15 pages of threads looking for the proper way to rig what I call a stinger hook.

How is it done guys?

Thanks,

Darrin

I personaly have never used a stinger other than attaching a treble on the bottom of the bait. I have found that if a big bass hits it it will swallow it if it really wants it. I have had bass come off of beds and follow it just nipping at the tail trying to chase it away but can almost alway throw back to the bed and get them once they follow it.

I too, do not use stingers very often, never on the bluegill. They tend to gill hook big fish. If you really want to do it, I would recomend using sevenstrand cable (saltwater rigging product) with crimps to attach them. I think the shape of the bluegill lends to pretty high hook up percentages in the corner of the mouth on beds, and roof of the mouth on the reel.

Thanks for the input guys. I wasn't for sure if I should use one or not? I'll opt not to and see what happens.

Thanks,

Fish Chris' website shows how to rig another hook into the back a Hud, I am not sure if the bluegill would be long enough to warrant a stinger.

Of course, I have ZERO experience with a swimbait so its JHMO.

I used a weedless, Mustad treble hook on mine when I first got them but took it off and still hooked Bass without it.  It messes up the great profile of Matt's B/G IMO.
