If I had to guess the Braves will land Peavy, I seriously doubt that The Cubbies will let Samardzija go. He's got some nasty stuff and he's young, way too much upside potential to let go.

Peavy has been pitching really well all season, the Sox aren't scoring any runs for him.

You're probably right, although Samardzija did just turn down an extension offer from the Cubs. I think he might have realized that Garza was right, and he needs to get out of Chi-town if he wants a career. I wouldnt mind Peavy though. He is a true competitor, even if he isn't the Cy Young caliber Peavy anymore.

Jeff is gone, I agree with you jar he don't want no more of the losing and rebuilding which has been constant in his time there plus I don't think the cubs will invest that kind of money....I hear the cubbies got a couple of farm hands comping to come up. Third baseman and a shortstop(Baez). Look for Smardizja, valbuena, and castro to be moved by the deadline.

Lincecum no hitter!

First pitcher in 104 years to no hit the same team.  Last pitcher to do that was Addie Joss for the Cleveland Naps in 1908 & 1910 versus the White Sox.

I wish still I had his signed rookie card, but I sold it back in 2010.

He also joins Randy Johnson, Sandy Koufax, and Roy Halladay as the only pitchers in history with multiple Cy Young awards and multiple no hitters.

2 Cy Youngs, 2 no hitters, and 2 World Series rings. That's a career right there.

Yeah no kidding. He has had a great career, isnt there a couple K titles and era crown somewhere in there too. I always enjoyed watching him in his prime, little surfer dude with GAS!!!! I kinda hate to see the way he faded, lost the juice, but he is learning to pitch. Maybe this is a rebirth, get a third CY and ring LOL

I always enjoyed Lincecum pitch, unfortunatley I can only see him on a limited basis, but he always had great stuff.

Kind of reminds me of Clay Buchholz. Skinny kids that look like they weigh 145 lbs soaking wet with cowboy boots on, but on mound they can be unhittable. You think to yourself, "How?"...LOL

Heading down to Dayton tonight I think. Me and my dad are going to take my oldest daughter to a baseball game, her first.

Suns are out of town this weekend, last weekend we were busy baby turned one. So an hour an a half drive to see an advanced A game lol. It will be worth it though.  :respect-059:

Game was good. Two kids with losing records went 6 shutout. Great defense.

So how bout the second baseman on Houston stealing home lol. Have him on a fantasy team. He is dyno-mite on the base paths!

Heck Man, a game is a game. My son loves to go to the Brockton Rox game and they have no affiliation to an MLB team!

Love pitchers duels...And yeah how about Altuve. First Astro ever to have 3 consecutive multi-steal games. He leads the AL in batting too.

Yeah man give me a pitchers duel with some nasty Ks and stellar defense any day.

Anyone see Jesse Hahn pitch for is it minn or Pitt? I hear he throws a pretty nasty 12-6 curve 30-40% of the pitches he throws!!!

Altuve hit .500 for the week with 10 steals!

If the season ended today, who do you think should be MVP/Cy Young recipients?

My picks are:

AL MVP- Nelson Cruz. Monster start on a team that is dealing with under-performers and injuries, and had kept the Os afloat.

Runner up-Victor Martinez

AL Cy Young- Masahiro Tanaka. Obvious choice for me. Every start has been a quality start. He's a beast.

Runner up- Felix Hernandez

NL MVP- Giancarlo Stanton. The Marlins would be sunk without him, and he's had another insane start.

Runner up- Troy Tulowitski

NL Cy Young- Johnny Cueto- Sub 2.00 ERA, sub 1.00 WHIP

Runner up- Adam Wainwright.

My BoSox are proving the same this year. Their bats went cold in the ALCS last year and haven't heated up yet. :)
