Super User Jigfishn10 Posted July 2, 2014 Super User Posted July 2, 2014 The minor leagues is a lot of fun to watch because of the hustle displayed, but there's no comparison to professional playoff baseball. And believe me, I love to see the PawSox (AAA) play ball! 2 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted July 5, 2014 Super User Posted July 5, 2014 Samardzjia and Hammel to Oakland! Didn't expect them both to be dealt to the same team. Especially Oakland. IMO they might be the team to beat in the AL with the added pitching depth. Atlanta is at 8 games in a row! =D And Kershaw is at 36 innings scoreless...He is a monster. 1 Quote

I didn't see that one coming. you're right, they are gonna be the team to beat. 1 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted July 8, 2014 Super User Posted July 8, 2014 I think it's ridiculous how Stanton isn't starting in the Mid-Summer Classic. I guess that's what you get when the fans vote...No love for the fish...especially when their payroll is like 25 mil. 1 Quote

He is starting at DH or so i thought.....i am glad to see Utley in there again Quote

So it's not that bad I guess. Yeah I was surprised to see Utley starting . He's been good the whole year. Good choice. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 9, 2014 Super User Posted July 9, 2014 Utley has always been a fan favorite and the guy plays the game like it should be played so he deserves the accolades......of course this is coming from a biased Phillies fan 1 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted July 9, 2014 Super User Posted July 9, 2014 And As a Braves fan, that's about all I'll say about Utley lol. The game should be good. Powerhouse offense in the AL, and lockdown pitching in the NL...but good pitching is supposed to beat good hitting! 2 Quote

They should have had way more championships than they did. 1 Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted July 9, 2014 Super User Posted July 9, 2014 It's all good....I completely agree and am surprised they didn't win more rings but i guess that is how it goes sometimes. Â I thought for sure the phillies would have won more than one in their 5 year or so run too.... Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted July 10, 2014 Super User Posted July 10, 2014 Jigfishn10, you just had to go there didn't you? Lol I guess I should have said "supposed to beat good hitting." Atlanta definitely should have won more, but first round exits are kinda their thing lol. Really no excuses why Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz and Avery (can't remember the 5th...Kent Mercker maybe?) didn't win more World Series'. Not like they had a slouch offense either. With the horrible upper management in ATL right now, it amazes me that the Braves can even compete. I swear Fredi Gonzalez tries to put together the least-sensible batting order he can think of. 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted July 10, 2014 Super User Posted July 10, 2014 LOL...Jar11591, I really didn't mean to though!...LOL Â When it comes to the playoffs, anyone of the teams that are in it can win. Before they changed the wild card format, look at how many teams that one who went in as wild cards. It depends on who's playing very well going into the season. Timely/clutch hitting, a strong bullpen, good pitching and good game management all go into a championship team. The Tigers were a Closer away last year and to honest, I think the Cards missed a clutch hitter in the championship series. Their pitching was outstanding. Â Oh, and a little luck doesn't hurt either.... 2 Quote

Super User Jar11591 Posted July 15, 2014 Super User Posted July 15, 2014 Anybody watch the Derby? How about that shot Stanton hit in the first round?! Almost left the stadium! 1 Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted July 18, 2014 Super User Posted July 18, 2014 While Jeter is an above average player he is not a superstar other than longevity and playing on the Yankees. Â I used to like the guy but in the 2011 season (I think) when he said he was skipping the all star game because he was mentally tired after chasing 3,000 hits I lost a lot of respect for him because he thought he was bigger than the game. Â Defensively he is average at best. Sorry to derail here a little but i am a little bent still that all the hoopla around him was given and not even a peep about Tony Gwynn.... 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted July 18, 2014 Super User Posted July 18, 2014 I didn't get a chance to see the game, but I did noticed that MLB and Fox did issue an apology. Probably not what fans like you and me would like to see or read. An omission to the death of a Hall of Famer in a game like that is inexcusable in my book. 1 Quote
tipptruck1 Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 I also never cared for Jeter. I can not comment on his playing style though. As the only time I ever saw him play. Was when the Yankees would play the White sox, cubs, or Brewers. I can comment on one thing though. He came in just as roids were getting big. From every thing I have seen or heard. He as never came up as a juicer. So I will applaud him on staying clean. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted July 19, 2014 Super User Posted July 19, 2014 I think he is clean or he pulled an Armstrong and was better at cheating than everyone else lol Quote
