freedirt29 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Hey y'all I live in a very small town called Lanexa, VA. Just outside Williamsburg if you know where that is. I do a lot of catfishing, pickerel fishing, striper, and salt water in the bay on occasion. When I'm freshwater fishing you'll usually catch me on the Chickahominy in the neighborhood I live on fishing off the bank or the few piers we got here. Got a canal system connected to the Chick running through our neighborhood caught some mammoth cats in there. The one thing that eludes me is largemouth bass. Apparently I live on one of the best largemouth fisheries in VA but I have yet to catch a single one! Maybe its just winter but most likely I just don't know a lick about bass fishing so I'm joining this site in hopes of learning a thing or two cause my buddy is about to buy a boat and I was hoping to join him in some tournaments! But anyways I'm excited to be a part of this site and learn a thing or two about Bass fishin! Quote

Hanover_Yakker Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Welcome aboard - plenty of good options for you to pop your bass cherry - the Chick, Daiscund Reservoir and Creek, Waller Mill, etc. Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 6, 2014 Super User Posted March 6, 2014 Free, you need a boat to properly fish the Chick River and Chick Lake. You are too limited by fishing from the shore. With that said, I am thinking you are fishing the canals in Chickahominy Haven? Caught some nice bass in the canals. Fish parallel to the bank, throw under any docks or piers and use your jig and pig. Consider joining a local bass club to learn the waters; where to launch our boat; and different techniques and baits that catch bass. Quote
