G. Loomis Rods, Really Worth The Money?

Sorry guys but I have to chuckle a bit.  Yeah, I agree $300 is alot for a production bass rod but it's interesting to me how different our views can be based upon experience.

 

Go buy some high end fly rods.

 

Or saltwater gear.

 

Your Loomis rod and JDM reel will feel pretty inexpensive and look like a great deal.  It's all relative.

How true is this!  I have some fly rods that cost the same as two or three G Loomis Rods.  Good thing I don't have an obsession with offshore fishing, because those reels they use are INSANELY expensive!

I think G.Loomis offers superior rods starting with the IMX series.

I have a bunch of IMX and GLX rods (both older editions)....and LOVE them.  

 

If you are patient, and keep your eyes open, you can find them at great prices (very lightly used) on the secondary market.

 

The most I have paid for any IMX or GLX is $150....which includes my all-time favorite rod, the BCR803 GLX.  I've never had any problems with them.

 

I have a few NRX rods as well, and they are GREAT rods, but for $300 (they can be found at this price point), I'll go with two older GLXs if given the choice.

I fished in another dimension for decades. I thought with me being frugal using fishing rods from the 70's with the chrome eyes and the glass material what ever I was doing ok.

Then someone here woke me up and said to upgrade. My present rods were under $10.

I upgraded to the LEWS rods not too expensive but what a jump in workmanship and quality. I know they might not be a $300 rod but the improvement of what I was using in the past was a big step forward.

My point is buy what you can afford. I'm going to upgrade again maybe next winter.
