Chartreuse jigs.

I have been a visitor of this site for many years and a member for not quite as long and have never heard of anyone using chartreuse jigs or senkos type baits. Anyone favor this color for certain conditions or have any good experience with it, or use it often? People use chartreuse cranks and spinnerbaits all the time with success. Back in my early days of fishing I used to catch boat loads of bass on a chartreuse jigs flipped  to edge of reeds and haven't tried it for many years instead using the traditional colors like watermelon and greenpumpkin. I'm thinking about giving it a try again this year and was curious if anyone else has had luck on chartreuse jigs and senkos?

I use Chartruse grubs on a jig head to fish lay downs. I flip it the same as a jig.

Be patient. Waiting an hour or two for an answer on a winter morning isn't going to kill you. :

Everyone around here uses the chartreuse/white laminate Senkos, probably more than any color, even watermelon. The stores can't keep them in stock.

I use the jigs for walleyes in murky water around here tipped with a curly tail grub.Catches bass as well.

I don't typically buy chart. colored senkos,but i do dip my smoke colored ones in JJ's magic chartreuse.

I personally don't fish skirted jigs much anyway, but I do have a couple that are about 50/50 chart. and black. My chatterbaits in all chart. are good baits.

More importantly, you've hit upon something here. Chartreuse is one of the most popular fishign colors in the world, yet certain baits rarely come in this color. Its very easy to find grubs, lizards, senkos, craws, and trailers in chartreuse, yet try finding a 7"or 10" ribbontail worm in ALL chartreuse. very rare. I rarely see shaky head worms in all chart., at least in the brands I typically use. I can't recall an all chartreuse Horny Toad, maybe I'm wrong. I'd buy all of these if they were in my local tackle shop. I think its been discussed before on this site, but its still odd to me that this trend persists.

I have had great luck wacky rigging senkos that were 50/50 Chart and G/P, 50/50 the long ways like how a hot dog bun is cut.

I can't recall an all chartreuse Horny Toad, maybe I'm wrong. I'd buy all of these if they were in my local tackle shop.

Bull Frog is the closest color you will get from ZOOM in the Horny Toad lineup.  It has a chartruese underbelly, and when fishing a horny toad, that is the only side of the lure that the bass will generally ever see, unless you are using different techniques.  Give them a try, I have had great success with that color pulling it through lilly pads and then letting it drop int he pockets.

Back about 30 years ago (or more) we use to pour our own jig heads and paint them chartreuse. Used them with live bait (ala Bill Binkleman) as well as 3" curly tails. Caught loads of smallies and walleye doing that. Probably just as effective today!

As far as Senkos go. If you have to ask - with all due respect - you've had your head in the sand! Everybody uses them....a LOT too!
