gripnrip Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Someone beats the almighty SEC and they want a rule change. BOO-HOOOO! http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/10552938/nick-saban-alabama-crimson-tide-says-pace-play-bears-closer-look Oh yeah. Forgot. BOOOOOOOOOOOOMER! Quote
5dollarsplash Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I'm in agreement on the Boo-Hoooing. The numbers will speak for themselves from what the article reads. Nick and the 2 dozen coaches will get shot down. It would probably come across better from Nick if he didn't speak up on these after a huge loss, it comes off bitter. Fads come and go in sport, right now speed between plays is huge. It'll come around, people will find a way to beat it, no need to rewrite rules. Quote

Wbeadlescomb Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I never understood why people get so caught up in sports the way they do. I played up till I blew my knee out my senior year and I don't know if I have ever watched more than a couple minutes of a game Quote
Super User Darren. Posted March 5, 2014 Super User Posted March 5, 2014 I like Colin Cowherd's take on this. Basically, (to Saban) put your 330 pound linemen on a diet, get them down to 309 and they'll be able to keep up better. Said this is exactly what Oregon did under Chip Kelly, and now the Eagles are doing. Makes sense to me! Silly argument (IMHO) Saban is making. Quote
BassThumbAddict Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Sooner baby! Was there at the sugar bowl. I could have swore I saw tears. 1 Quote
Brian Needham Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I see his point, but its the wording that makes it laughable. I never understood the stopping the clock after a fisrt down either...... probably allows more commercial breaks which = $$$ and thats what it all boils down to anyway. Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 6, 2014 Super User Posted March 6, 2014 Not gonna pass. And LSU is thinking of going fast, too. I guess Satan is still upset with the big, fat and slow white boys he had blocking on that field goal attempt against Awbunn. And I almost forgot, the big Sugar Bowl loss. Could not have happened to a nicer guy! Geaux Tigers. 1 Quote

gr8outdoorz Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Man I'm a Bama fan but this is ridiculous!!! As much as I like Saban, he can be a winy b**** sometimes...jus sayin. Quote
gripnrip Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) Sooner baby! Was there at the sugar bowl. I could have swore I saw tears. I was at the 06 and 07 Sugar Bowls. Two games I want to forget. Thank goodness for Margaritaville! Edit: Woops, meant Fiesta Bowls. Edited March 6, 2014 by gripnrip Quote
fadetoblack21 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 You don't slow down an offense by passing a rule, you slow down an offense with stout defense. This is just an attempt by Saban to swing the game back towards a more NFL like game, which coincidentally, his team plays very well. Maybe it's time for Saban to adjust with the game instead of trying to adjust the game to fit his style. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted March 6, 2014 Super User Posted March 6, 2014 "More plays is just like smoking more cigarettes"... wow is all I can say to Sab's on that one. Quote
