There's a great thread going about what we hate about fishing, and it seems there are a lot of things to not like!  At the same time, it's important to appreciate all that fishing offers us and I want to hear what everyone LOVES about fishing! Just another fun thread so I can read some more reasons why I'm excited for all this ice to melt!

For me I'd have to say the one thing I absolutely love about fishing, is the anticipation.  It's all still so new to me. If I'm heading out in the morning, especially those special weekend trips when we rent a jon boat and actually get on the water, I am like a kid on Christmas eve.  Triple checking my backpack, getting my rods ready, reading bass resource for last minute tips.  I'm tossing and turning in bed all night, and when my alarm goes off in the morning I'm either already making a light breakfast, or flying out of bed at the first sound. The anticipation only builds as my buddies car pulls up, Tim Horton's coffee waiting for me in the cup holder.  The drive up has us contemplating aloud the weather we'll be seeing that day, what we should be using, and general giddyness!

There's also nothing like throwing that first cast out when the water is completely calm, the sun is just rising, and the only sound is your line coming through the guides.

So let's hear it! What do you enjoy most about fishing? Lipping that new PB? Getting together with friends and family? Some quiet time to yourself to reflect on life, the universe, and everything?

The love of rich mixed 2-stroke early in the morning or bowing up on a good fish with braid and hearing that line sing

Putting someone on their PB!

So funny because YOU put me on my PB, just with your words and not your boat!

Getting everything ready

Anticipation of the day

Watching the water for chasing fish

Am I going to make the right decisions

Did I tie good knots

Are the cows going to be standing in the fields

Hope my family has a good day too

Thank you Lord for another day of your gifts

Just being on the water in my boat. It's such a free feeling. I feel like I am "KING OF THE World". LOL

Quality time with family and friends. Enjoying nature. Learning about fishing and fishing gear. Collecting fishing gear. Every fish I catch, even if it's a dink. Figuring out how to catch a fish, even when the place doesn't seem to be producing. I think spending time with family, friends and the universe are the best though.

Getting away from everything for a while, and hopefully catching a new PB in the process.

I love the quiet, the sound of red wing black birds, the little slaps of water against the side of the boat, the cool mist that spins off my reel as I make a long cast, and like A-Jay, making memories........ that I will forget because i'm getting too old to remember anything anymore. What was the question ?

Just getting back into fishing now so I guess what I love is spending a ton of money on stuff I didn’t need 35 years ago but turns out I can’t live without

  • The flutter in my stomach when the alarm goes off in the morning.

The first cast of the day

The surface explosions!

That time of the day when you've caught a few and you sit back and take it all in.

The way my mind goes into "screen saver" mode when I fish.

Opening up the throttle and feeling the wind.

Using Google Maps at work to find the next spot to fish.

Coming up with a strategy to fool em.

Sliding my Kayak into a secret spot and not seeing another boat all day.

Ditto just about everything previously said.

And, figuring out exactly where there should be a bass, making the perfect cast and getting bit.

" I love it when a plan comes together"!!!

What I love about fishing is it is like free mental therapy in a way, it just clears my mind of all of lifes happenings for awhile...very refreshing

Beee the line, beee the rod, beee the reel...... nanananana nuhnuhnuhnuh

Sorry couldn't resist.  It's peaceful, man.  That's the main reason I hunt and fish.  It isn't whether I catch or kill anything.  It is getting away from a loud shop environment and relaxing.  control/alt/delete.  Reboot.

There are many things.  Top of the list are;  The sunrise and wishing my dad was still alive to share the moment with him.  I also ask his help to give me a few bites each day :high-five:   God rest his soul.

A lot of good things have been mentioned thus far. What really keeps me motivated is self advancement and the unknown. Fishing is a lifetime of gaining knowledge and you never know when the next cast could yield the fish of a lifetime.

I've got three that I can't really decide between.

1) Sitting on the boat right as the Sun is starting to crack in the A.M. and gunning the boat with your best buds to your favorite spot to start a full day of fishing. Always so serene and beautiful.

2) That twitch in the line when your fishing painfully slow.

3) When your drag starts to scream when you hook into a biggun'
