mxracer857 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I usually do the majority of my bass fishing in my home state of Connecticut. Currently I am at school in South Carolina and am having trouble deciding what baits/lures to use this time of year in cold / clear water. All my go-to spinner baits/soft baits don't seem to be as beneficial down here in the south. As stated the local ponds I am fishing is clear water with minimal weeds. If anyone has any input on what I can use It would be greatly appreciated! -Thank You! Quote
Stingray23 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I would use a jerkbait, a grub, and a weightless fluke. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 4, 2014 Super User Posted March 4, 2014 I would use a jerkbait, a grub, and a weightless fluke. X2 Yup - Sounds like Jerk Bait City . . . . . A-Jay Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted March 4, 2014 Super User Posted March 4, 2014 Cold, clear water means suspending jerkbaits, plain and simple!! 1 Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted March 5, 2014 Super User Posted March 5, 2014 Another vote for a jerkbait. A small, hand poured worm on a shakey head jig is awesome in cold water as well. A rod rigged with a hair jig is also a must in these situations. Quote
fishguy613 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 dropshot, tube, jerkbait, grub, lipless crank, shakey head Quote
Fish'N Impossible Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Suspending Jerkbait on lighter Flouro would be my goto...GS Biwahigai Vision 110 most likely. If that wasn't happening then I would goto the old Flutter spoon..Damiki Vault or Vortex. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted March 5, 2014 Super User Posted March 5, 2014 Suspending jerk for temps 56 or under. Senkos, flukes, centipedes, finesse jigs, and the like will get bit too. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 5, 2014 Super User Posted March 5, 2014 One more vote for the super fluke. I fish it weightless and let it drop all the way to the bottom. Quote
Jsinkic Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I like to use a floating crank bait. Reel it in until you feel it is touching the bottom or until you feel it rebound off of a rock or stump and let it float up until it almost hits the surface then repeat. The fish will hit it on the float up. Quote
livetofish28 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Jerkbait jerkbait jerkbait Smithwick suspending rouge is an awesome bait for cold clear water Tight lines Andrew Quote
