macmichael Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I'm so sick of winter that I'm ready for a drive by casting!!!! Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted March 4, 2014 Super User Posted March 4, 2014 So sick of winter that I'm just buying tackle due to my lack of actually fishing. I'm casting in the backyard, reorganizing my gear and reading about fishing non stop. I keep telling my self that I'll be fishing by mid-march by some miracle, but today it's 15 degrees and no sign of warming. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted March 4, 2014 Super User Posted March 4, 2014 I'm pretty annoyed yes by Winter of course, but I'm looking at it in a more positive way. It is a necessity for our waters. I just read a report regarding how the water this year will be higher than the average norm the last few years thanks to all the snow. Since 1996 I believe it stated, this will be the first year alot of the great lakes will keep more water. The ice cover is preventing evaporation during the winter months. So lakes like Huron (Georgian Bay Ontario, Canada) will see a severely needed water level rise. This also helps the fishery I read, but I can't remember the specifics. Also any land locked isle wildlife can now walk back and forth the ice, the advantage is to diversify the gene pool. Since 1996 a lot of the wolves for example who were land locked may now have a better pool. So that is how I'm looking at it. Quote
Preytorien Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I can't tell you how many times I've practiced my pitching into a shoebox from the top step leading down into the den. I've re-organized my tackle systems countless times, and checked and re-checked my gear. Ha! I'm pretty over this weather. However, hope is in sight. Looking at some 10-day forecasts see Indiana here climbing more consistently into the 40's and even 50's. Guys....the climb is slow, but the view from the top is great! Hang in there bass brothers!!! tbone1993 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I dont even own a boat and im thinking about ways to customize it. Rigid industry lights, power poles, low rance units, ecu booster, and more. I also picked up jig tying and extensive reel cleaning and assembly. Quote

I wont take too many more of these winters, might have to be a snowbird... Mitch Quote
