guitarkid Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 With all the talk about all the new shallow divers coming out, I thought I would do a breif write up for you guys. Rod-BPS crankin' stick Reel-BPS Pro Qualifier Line-Excel mono 12# test All these were bounced off of a PVC pipe about 4-6 inch OD Lure 1: Strike King KVD silent Square bill. I thought this was actually the best one, it bounced off of cover pretty well and dragged the bottom without getting too fould by leaves and grass. Proably my favorite of the shhotout Lure 2: Lucky Craft RC 2.5 These I felt were pretty good, but did'nt really stand out in any particular way. They bounced off pretty good and not quite as good as the Strike king for bottm hugging. H20 Express RC look-alike I felt these probably bounced off of cover the with the most kick-out action, but not quite as weedless as others. Excalibur XCS silent square bill. I was actually surprised with this one, I was expecting a harder and wider more pronouned action, but it was actually pretty tight. It bounced off the pvc pipe pretty good, but instead of kicking way off to the side it actually kicked out maybe about 2-3 inches and forward about 12-14 inches. It was also mildly weedless, but not the most weedless of the shootout. As far as rankings go, I would rank them like this: 1. Strike king square bill 2. H20 Express square bill 3. Lucky Craft RC shallow runner 4. Excalibur XCS silent If any questions about the review, just post a reply and I will try to answer any questions. -gk Quote
B-Dozer Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I'm jealous you have open water. Going to be 25 below with the wc factor. Did you set up the PVC pipe specifically for the test? Give it a try with a Bomber square A. Thanks for sharing Quote
guitarkid Posted January 23, 2011 Author Posted January 23, 2011 The PVC pipe is actually a plugged up drain or something that is good for bouncing cranks off of. I actually was thinking about bringing my square A, but a wood fat body square bill might be coming soo.... -gk Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted January 23, 2011 Super User Posted January 23, 2011 Norman Fat Boy fooled my PB. 8-) Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted January 24, 2011 Super User Posted January 24, 2011 Fat Boy and DTFat03 definitely should be among the top. I like the KVD square bills. I don't like how quickly the paint scratches off of them though. I'm a big fan of those Xcalibur Square Bills in the 100 size. Quote
