Super User buzzed bait Posted March 2, 2014 Super User Posted March 2, 2014 Was just watching the PGA Honda Classic and the cutaway shot for the commercial break was a Florida gator with the tail of a BIG bass hanging out of it's mouth, then down the hatch! Anybody else catch that? Glad I don't live/fish near gators!! My luck would be me pulling one in the boat as a gator pulls me and the bass in the lake. Those things scare me to death! Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted March 2, 2014 Author Super User Posted March 2, 2014 I caught it HAHA yes you did! I don't have DVR or anything fancy so I couldn't rewind to snap a pic. Thanks! That's awesome! Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted March 2, 2014 Author Super User Posted March 2, 2014 Looks like an absolute toad! Yeah, it DEFINITELY caught my eye. I was thinking to myself how do bass get SOOO big in parts of South FL where these gators roam around and pick them off? then my next thought was d*mn i would have like to have caught that fish earlier today when i was on the water! Super User Long Mike Posted March 2, 2014 Super User Posted March 2, 2014 That's either a huge bass or a small gator. 1 Quote

Super User Dwight Hottle Posted March 2, 2014 Super User Posted March 2, 2014 Just on the local news. It was a bass for sure. 1 Quote
Pz3 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Pretty cool that they showed it. When you see an 8+ foot gator face down in the lilly pads with its rear end swaying around out of the water as its attacking something. That is something to see! Quote
scrutch Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Wish I coulda shot the gator and saved the bass! 1 Quote

Wbeadlescomb Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Y'all Yankees don't worry about them gators. The way a gator gets somebody ready to eat Is by holding them down and whooping the chit out of them with there tail and they learned a long time ago by the time you whoop the chit out of a Yankee there ain't nothing left... Well I must be a Yankee because I needed to use Google Translate to interpret your post. In an effort to assist others like me, I have included the translation below . . . . "Well Hello there fellow friends, One should use caution when in close proximity to Large Alligators. They often use their tails as a weapon, so stay clear. BTW - I really like the men from the north." A-Jay 8 Quote

Super User buzzed bait Posted March 3, 2014 Author Super User Posted March 3, 2014 Just on the local news. It was a bass for sure. Interesting that it made it on the news!! I'm curious now as to what the story was about? I just thought it was cool that not only the cameras caught it, but i happened to see this big tail of a big bass going down the hatch. Glad JBSoonerfan snagged that photo for some evidence! Quote

As a kid and teenager I spent many many weeks in Land o Lakes, FL hunting wild hogs. We would hunt them with dogs on this MASSIVE ranch. On more than one occasion, we happened upon a gator. Once I happened to catch a glimpse of a gator pulling a small calf down into a pond, that alone has kept me away from fishing in Florida...... Quote

They are fairly predictable. Never really had issues with them. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted March 3, 2014 Author Super User Posted March 3, 2014 They are fairly predictable. Never really had issues with them. I'd say mostly predictable until 5 or 6 dogs and a 300 pound hog rush into their gator sanctuary.... then it's anybody's guess as to who is coming out on top I'm just glad they don't roam the waters I fish!! Story line was honda classic and they had the gator grabbing the bass & eating her head first. about 6-10 frames worth. Florida tv station for palm beach. Quote
